well done, well done XD, yea... somtimes it takes me a while to finish projects too, its been a while since i have seen your videos, i have been quite buisy, but i had a chance to pop in and say hi XD
once again well done, good detail, clean presentation, love it!
@angryace13 My videos aren'tging anywhere... :) :) Thety'll be there for whenever you have a second or three to spare!! :0) I'm keeping busy too, mainly modelling.. I hope to chrun out about 6 Spitfires thius month, then I won't build another Spit for the rest of the year... :) The club is having Spitfires as a theme for a show in May, hense my urgency to get them done.. :)
@angryace13 A Mk.II Spit?? Excellent.. I will convert one of my Airfix (new tool) Mk.Ia's into a Mk.II, as I found some old (but hopefully usable) decals for such a Spitfire.. :) I hope at some point to build a Mk.IIb as well..
what brand is it, Tamiya? Hasagawa? Arfix? Revell?
mine was a Revell, got it for cheep, around 10 bucks, usually they cost about 13 to 15 just to get them by mail, i saw i was saving 3 to 5 bucks and pounced on it, and made the Ace Of Spades MKII Spitfire, i have a few pictures but cant post them on here, i might be able to PM them too you if you want.
@angryace13 It's the new tool Airfix kit in 1/72, quite cheap but nicely detailed.. Converting a Mk.I to a Mk.IIa is probably the easiest Spitfire conversion anyone can make... :) Would love to see your pictures... :0)
i will, eventually, i got a good camera coming in a mail form a really good bud of mine, and it will be show cased in the video, im showing off my entire collection, planes, cars, engines and all!
I sent those belts? Don't remember, nice job though :) I think they did night intruder missions to blow up trains in France, and strafe luftwaffe bombers coming back from a hard days blitz.
@GerbilEssences Yes, they were originally intended for (and will still be used with) the Russian Spitfire IX that you sent me decals for.. I really need to get that one built too, as I'd like to include it for the clubs Spitfire display at Hendon in May.. This Hurri is a pure nightfighter, not an intruder.. but I will build an intruder Hurricane later, with the black underneath and ordinary camouflage on top.. :) :)
@BasicModelling I am still amazed at the level of detail. I love watching people "plus" models....adding their own special details. Do you do weathering on any of yours?
@PurpleOrchid92 I don't weathger my camouflaged aircraft much.. mainly the natural metal ones.. but on the odd occasion that I build a tank or armoured vehicle I always weather and wash, these days.. Generally I like to keep my planes 'clean', :) :)
@PurpleOrchid92 Yes.. and also the fact that I haven't got the skill yet to make a weathered plane look good.. so rather than ruin it, I keep it 'factory fresh'.. :)
So it took you a year to build, but you finally finished it... I guess in that respect it was like reading "The Rise And Fall of The Third Reich" By William L. Shirer :)
@fehquig I just got bored of it.. it's the type of model I'd normally sling together in a day, but it just didn't appeal! Still, at least I just put it on hold, rather than bin it.. and I did enjoy the end result, when done.. :)
Did you ever hear that using a blue lightbulb will give you a more correct colour reproduction, and you will therefore be able to decide the excact colour match for the model. Just asking. Also, maybe you could do a review on different plastic glues and/or model paints. Actually, i wonder if you know why it is so hard to find the old glasses with the thick plastic glues. Do you remember the "Vollmer" small conical shaped glasses with that thick cement...nowadays i only use very thin cement..
@mybluebelly The light is fine.. but my camera isn't!! When I used my older camera the photos were better, but that camera no longer accepts memory card, so I have to use my newer camera.. I hope to invest in a better camera this month, or at least later this year.. :) These days people seem to prefer thinner glues, but I find the glue that is sold in tubes to be quite thick..
nice job...I believe the Finns had Hurricanes in their wars against the USSR...perhaps captured? obtained from the Germans? anyway, you do good work...mvh ! :)
@granskare The Finns got their Hurris from England, as the UK wanted to help them against the aggresive Soviet Union.. as it happens things took a different turn later on.. :)
Thanks God that you decided to finish with it, BM. So worth seeing! The beauty of the model, together with that of the music, makes this video a real masterpiece; very well done! I guess this was an old kit, wasn´t it? Precisely talking on old kits, one of my projects for plane kits videos, left in stand by for a time, was one on old plastic model planes I still have, undone, and which I think are either hard to come across in the market or just impossible, no longer under production.
@AlanMartinNala Yes, the Heller Hurricane is quite old, but one of the more accurate Hurries in 1/72 scale.. You can still buy the kit, as SMER has reboxed it with different decals.. :) Much looking forward to your video of rare kits, I may have one or two myself.. :)
Awesome work bro, the plane looks killer in that black paint, stealth like, creeping on the enemies then putting large holes into their fuselage!!!...lol!! Beautiful plane & glad you were able to finish it. Love the photo etched seatbelts your friend sent you, gives it more detail. Keep up the great work, peace!!
@tankman13p66 True.. and I will soon build a nightfighter Spitfire too! They were not as succesful as nightfighters, compared to the Hurricanes, but at the time they had to threw in what was availabale.. :)
@Smiertquantumace12 It's getting there.. I'm having trouble with the Mk.VI at the momenty, but once it is done, I will assemble the black Spitfire too.. :)
@BasicModelling lol, I might just dig out my built Airfix 1:72 RAF Air Sea Rescue Launch to put back on my shelves! In fact, I might just dig out all my Airfix 1:72 models to put back on the shelves!
Another great build vid, I think the Revell Hurricane is a much nicer kit, but you made a damn good job Heller offering. We all get some kits that seem like a drag, well done for being persistant and finishing.
@chancerNW The Revell kit is better in many ways, but less accurate around the cockpit / canopy area.. :) I have built endless Revell Hurries, but htis was my first Heller offering.. :)
@MakingModelsAgain I have a black nightfighter Spitfire coming up, which I hope to add some weathering to, if I can.. plain black is very tricky to get to look good, I think! :) :) Thanks...
@888HamilkarBarkas888 I have always had a liking for the Heller kits, as they (together with Airfix) used to offer a great selection of Swedish planes.. but yes, they are a bit long in the tooth these days! Still, I have a few more Heller kits in the pipeline.. Glad you enjoyed the model.. :)
Do they paint all Night Fighter Aircraft black?? The end result of this Hurricane is very nice - you did a superb job :) 2.50!! That is pretty good for what you got out of the kit! Thanks :)
@2002And Most allied nightfighters were painted black, but some (in the beginning) kept the day camo.. Night intruder Hurries often had black undersides and Ocean Grey / Dark Green upper surfaces and fuselage.. Love the music as well, where do you get that? Some terrible flash on the spurs - luckily it is on the sprue frame rather than the model! Seat-belts are a nice addition... I think I'll try and find some etched brass... that is the exact black paint I used to paint my Mosquito (Part 2 just uploaded).
@2002And Basically any original WWII footage is copyright free / public domain due to its age, and due to (in most cases) being filmed by Governement officials, so should be safe to use.. Can't remember exactly where I got this clip from now, I've had it for a long time.. I responded with this video to your Mosquito video, I hope you'll accept the response.. :)
@Generalsplatton Yes, like I said in the video I put this on hold for almost a year as I found it rather boring.. :) Complicated it isn't, for sure, but as it fitted with my building theme for this year, I completed it now, better late than never.. I have some rather more detailed models coming up, like the Revell Lancaster, Minicraft Liberator, Academy B-17 G.. all in 1/72! I like to build a mix, easy kits and more difficult stuff.. like the part resin 2-seat P-47 G I also have planned! :)
Nice looking kit. How old is it? The flash around the sprue gates was quite noticeable.
Eduard sells prepainted seat belts,at least i have seen those in 1/48th. Did you paint the belts inplace? I usually will paint them off the seat, then add them.
@Blargaldalien I have no idea how old the kit is, I have the box in front of me.. but can't find a year anywhere! :) This time I painted the belt after adding them, but when I did the belts for my 1/48 scale Mustang, I painted them before.. it's just how it happens from time to time.. :)
Great build well done :), One Question: What sort of glue do you use to attach the metal or etched parts to the plastic? Ive got some metal glue but it eats away plastic, so i cant really use it on both.
@Bloodrin79Thank you!! :) I use ordinary superglue, or CA glue as its also known.. (Cyanoacrylate). I prefer the slow setting gel type, as it gives you a few seconds to fiddle about before setting.. :)
@fmcVlad Ha ha ha.. Well, in that case yopu'll like the fact that I will build at least 4 if not 5 Spifires over the next few weeks, including a Mk.VI, a 'Floatfire', a Mk.Vb nightfighter and a Mk.Vb from the Portugese Air Force, with clipped wings.. if I can fit it in I'll make a Belgian Spitifire FR Mk.XIVe too, in 1/48 scale.. or any other version, offered with that kit!! :)
