it's u-ku-le-le. There is no "y" in hawaiian only glide sounds when one sound linking with "i", "e" or "a" making sounds like y, w like for ex. maui is mau-i but but it would sound like ma-wee. "W" in hawaiian is pronounced as "v" despite the "w" used. like all "w" in german is pronounced as "v". your version of pronunciation is the lazy, ignorant version or how you hear it when someone say it. like vietnam is not be-it-nam. it's (vi-yet)-nam. sound almost the same but it's not.
