  • If Toyota wanted to compete with the unique Smart first it should have made the IQ a cheaper alternative

Toyota charge you nearly £1000 for a Sat/Nav on a car already costing over £10,000 CRAZY

In this price sector Sat/Nav should be standard

The citycar sector is so competative for budget concious motorists that the IQ stand little chance of success longterm

If it cost £8500 with Sat/Nav it would be everyones choice as a citycar

Nice car but far too costly as a citycar

  • smart should think of new ideas to make their cars better or.... later on smart will be left behind or discontinued as more and more people get rid of their smart and get the iQ

  • that is the fricken cutest car i have ever seen!

  • 4 small car only smart decision would by smart.

  • @ryklyslt I don't think so.

  • But it's not much smarter than an Aygo! The better styled Aygo IMO has the added practicality of 5 doors as an option, surely this makes more sense. The pricing of the IQ is a joke!

  • the 2008-present Toyota iQ is assembled in

    Takaoka, Japan

  • the USA version is only rated 36/37 mpg and $16000!

  • i live in the states and we dont have this car but my aunt who lives in england has it

  • @basilrob we will later this year as scion iq

  • with UK petrol prices going through the roof this is looking like an increasingly attractive option!

  • Ship one to me here in the states?

  • @eastrockaway11518 There's going to be a Scion IQ, which is the same thing, so don't worry.

  • i really enjoyed this video for some reason...

  • everytime i see one of these on yhe road i want to vomit cause its so ugly and annoying! why would u buy one? theres much nicer looking small cars.

  • CVT's are too fragile and too difficult to repair to be practical.

  • how much is this car?

  • I have IQ. Very relikable car. drove it 8k km in just 6 months time, and it is more then a good price. And price is as it is cos of it's features and modern look.

  • CVT?? cool!

  • damn its a bit pricy, I have a smart pasion at the mo, and I want to get rid of it, ps the smart car looks better than the IQ

  • I hate the name... Why small cars have names that implies intelligence?

  • Why is the SAT/NAV an option it should be standard on a car costing over £10,000

  • IQ is a Car

    Smart is a Toy

  • @TheFloh007 Compared to an Aston Martin, they're both toys :-)

  • @TheFloh007 Why because it's a Toyota. Please! get down from that dream bubble. The Toyota so-called reliavility train has finally come to it's end.

  • I've had an IQ2 for about a week now and its great. People just cant believe how spacious it is inside. Definitely a 3+1, but you could get 4 adults in at a push. Driving the IQ is a pleasure and MPG seems good as well, so far. Really glad got it.

  • @sonnetxiii its a waste of money, i have a smart. iq has 4 seats and u cant use them

  • I love this car!!! This car would be a real headturner in NYC, especially in the trendy locales like SoHo, TriBeCa, Greenwich Village, Chelsea, and the Meatpacking District!!! I have a brochure on this car from England, and it is something. I want one!!!

  • it will be exactly the same price of the Yarris 3 Door lift bag s

  • I want this in canada, unfortunately it'll be sold under scion, and it won't be cheap.

  • why would they even make this car a manuel?

  • WTF I didn't expect it to have a back seat!

  • this car is sexy :)

  • is this car coming to the USA anytime soon?

  • I own one it is BRILL, i love it

  • Ties with the Ferrari 458 as the world's top meta-car.

  • What mens the S mode in the automatic transmission.

    Sorry for my english!!!

  • what means the S option in the automatic transmission

  • Hahaha, "even with my hat on!"

  • AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!

my father wants to buy one for the family!

we already have 2 yaris and i want to say

    "TOYOTA" SUCKS AT DRIVING SENSATION!

"toyotas", for me, they are not cars, just means of transportation.

i thought it couldn't get worse, but now

    we'll have a 1/2 mean of transportation

    (which makes it 2x worse)

  • Toyota is the most reliable car you can get.. you should feel lucky.

NOTHING WRONG WITH YARIS :( ... but i guess if u have two it would get boring driving it :P

  • They may be reliable but they are not involving drives.

Our family have had numerous Corollas over the years, reliable yes but as interesting as watching paint dry.

  • Well, i wouldnt exactly say toyota is the most reliable. But its definitely VERY reliable for the price you're paying. Otherwise you'd be spending tens, maybe hundreds of thousands on a porsche or mercedes.

  • @NuggetTesters i have yaris and it's a very cool car and reliable

    am agree with that

  • iIs way too costly.

They should be aiming to make a car like that for 5 or 6 grand total.

Anything else and its just an over priced gimmick.

  • they need to bring that to the US

  • suppose to come to canada in 2010 or 2011 so i am sure ur gonna have it =)

  • They are bringing to the US under the Scion brand.

  • when

  • how much this car?

  • In Norway it's from 16750 to 20600 pounds, but I don't know how much it is in other countries.

  • Please don't buy a yaris :(

  • There isn't another small car out there at the moment that is as good as this one. Just when i thought it couldn't get any better i used one at an autotest and upset a lot of people. The VSC system is brilliant. Being able to hit 40mph in 1st gear was useful too! As for features how many do you want!? I drove the IQ2 and it had more gadgets in it than i would ever want in a car!!

  • @warwickstingray

I almost bought an IQ but couldnot believe it when they wanted to charge me nearly £1000 extra for the Sat/Nav.

Also there is no diesel engine in the range which was another disappointment.

I desided on buying a Smart Passion Cdi which returns an easy 90mpg.

I have no need for the extra seating and the Smart was £700 cheaper and has a Sat/Nav as standard.

  • surely it doesn't even have a boot, :S

  • A great concept but how often do you take more than two passengers in your car.

Crazy that Toyota have not dropped a small highly efficient diesel under the bonnet of the IQ.

Its the crazy price of the base model £9500.The sat nav is over £900 as an option and if you can find two midgets to sit in the back then you have no boot space whatsoever.

I am average height of 5ft 8 for a male and sitting in the back was knees in the chest stuff.

Use your IQ and buy the better Smart CDi

  • i love that car...but it's price!!! which is better this IQ or YARIS??

  • theres only one way to find out.......FIGHT! (harry hill say that btw)

  • YAris is more convinient since u can carry bigger objects , the IQ is more like a second car u would use only to go to work and back , thats all ,

  • godamAN! 60 mpg?!

  • too expensive for what it is unfortunately. I was interested until I saw the price

  • The idea of this car is not for people who live in rural or even suburban areas. its for city folk. I live in New York City and I love the idea of a small car that will allow me to move about without having to brave the disease infested subways. I can park anywhere, have any of you ever tried to park in New York. do you know how much parking cost?

This is a car for us not you, so that's why it may make no sense to some.

If I lived in a rural area I'd get a nice size Toyota pickup.

  • Get a skoda fabia!

you can put up to three bikes for grown ups into it and you still have enough room to move (speaking of me and I measure 1,88m), Secondly it runns you about 500th km with one engine (mine has 550 thousand kilometers and I installed a new engine - costed me 3000 euros,) and now it is just like new. (well more or less, it has scratches and a bit of rust where I have crashed it, and didn't repair it properly, but still I feel better in a fabia than in an IQ.

    great review though!

  • Fabia?! Did you say Fabia?! Nowhere near as good as the iQ matey...

  • I like this car. If you take a black one with wider tires and big rims it looks pretty cool I guess.

  • I'm pretty sure America has lucked out when it comes to having an IQ...lol

  • If the engine is the same as the Aygo's - why does the Aygo need road tax?

  • It's look even better than a smart. A man can buy this and be seen driven it.

  • I agree with some others, it has to be under 10k. In the U.S. at least , A. we can buy GREAT used cars all day long for 10grand, B. we can buy hyundais and kias all day long for 10 grand.

This new trend of giving us half the car for the same price we used to pay for a normal sized car is scaring me. Why does going green always cost more and involve huge compromises for the consumer?

A pint size car should have a pint sized price!

  • size does not equal price. it's the features.

  • It doesnt have features tho... just less, smaller and cheaper components.

The only plus it has is safety, and thats why it is expensive. Micro car makers are paranoid about safety and overdesign them to compensate.

We need a normal car maker to build a 2-seat Smart-like car, but without the overdesign and associated price tag.

I'd like a 2-seat Suzuki Swift. I photoshopped one and it looks heaps better than a Smart or IQ.

  • @justinparrkk

Maybe but nearly £1000 for a Sat/Nav on the base model is pushing it a bit.

The IQ is too expensive to be a direct competitor to the Smart.

If you compare like with like the Smart Passion is nearly £1000 cheaper than the base IQ which for a city car is big money.

  • you are sad

  • i agree with justinparkk. its about features, u can buy alot of meat thats shitty for cheap but buy meat thats less thats more expensive.

  • * less car for more money *

tell it like it is dude....

  • Should be coming to the USA under the SCION brand. I think its going to have a bigger engine (1,3 liter) with the usual bells and whistles that make if more expensive. i guess they don't want to undercut their other Models. People want something like this for under 10k, especially in warm climate cities, but the major auto manufacturers refuse to blink.

  • My girlfriend and I test drove one of these little beauties yesterday, and after sleeping on it (not literally, of course) we have decide to go and order one this afternoon. Fantastic little car! BTW, I am 5ft 10in and 15 stone and I can sit perfectly comfortably in the back seat! :)

  • Nice - proper review!

  • bmw x6 at 1:34

  • the problem of this car is it's price :-(

  • i know. even working at a toyota dealer, the cost price isnt much lower than the list price

  • i work in a toyota dealership, i'm thinking of getting one, great little car

  • Very nice review.

  • when it is coming to Canada? it looks pretty nice and from what i've heard fairly reasonably price...although i know they'll jack up the price by about $8K here.

  • finally a good review of this car.

  • when is this car cumming to the uk

  • Already available.
