I just think some of the parts should be well-researched. Maybe it's just me but some of the scenes just don't match with what I've heard. Like the part where General Aung San was shot, he was shot with a Tommy gun but in the film it's a pistol. And also the part where Aung San Su Kyi was being pointed with guns they were in a sort of deserted area but I heard that it happened in the city with a big crowd. I'm not sure but I'm just sharing what i know :) But it's a great film I'm glad!!
So this doesn't look like Besson's usual grl p0wer films. Still about a female hero, though no of the physical "asskicking" category. Although I wouldn't be surprised if she does start whiping the floor with a bunch of bad guys. It's Luc Besson, maybe he tries to fit Milla Jovavich in there somehow as some asskicking bodyguard, who knows. I'll still see it, looks great.
@youmetube1991 Uh oh, we wish it were that easy to fight them back. It was the military power on the other side. Just take a look at what happened during 1988 when the civilians tried to fight back the military government.
Young boys & girls borne after 1988 did not have well knowledge about 8888 crisis and Junta government U Ne Win (General Ne win) who tried and made Myanmar Country to poorest country of the world. The flags hoisting upside down was indicated people were against to the Socialist Government. Don't forget the struggle time all Myanmar people were suffering in hungry and starving due to the policy of Socialist government. Everywhere those flags hoisted upside down even at my house.
I was born in 1989 and I think we can speak about BURMA for long time with you. I've been there several times and have a lot of burmese friends, speak the language and of course, respect EVERYBODY (that's the most beautiful think I've learn from the Burmese people) and thats why I really don't like the way you treat me by your sentence "young boys & girls...". Please learn about respect if you really like this country.
Michelle Yeoh can get the Oscar Nominee, but due to the film’s creators mistake by some goose bumps she may fail and lost her dignity. The worst things are that the most precious flags of the country are showing upside down even in the trailer. Is it sabotage or put it in the purpose? Or by mistakes?
None of them can definitely be excused, even though the screen writer is the famous Luc Besson.
God save the Lady as well as save our Burmese Flag!
@gunzinsea During the 8-8-88 protests, many people flew the flag upside down as a form of protest to symbolize the national distress: netipr.org/8888/a_brush_with_anarchy_by_asiaweek
It's time everyone knows how much SHE has sacrificed for our country. I hope you all can sympathize what has been happening in Myanmar. One thing, I'm dead sure I won't be able to buy it when the movie comes out. Whatever, it's not like I don't have connections in other countries! ^_^
Aung San Suu Kyi, l'esempio più bello della Nonviolenza attiva oggi, premio Nobel per la Pace 1991, coofondatrice e leader della "Lega Nazionale per la Democrazia" in Birmania.
I believe the flags are meant to be upside down as a form of symbolic protest. I've just watched a video on metacafe.com where a woman speaker from the Burma Democratic Concern appears alongside an upside-down Burmese flag.
I just wish some of you commenting on here would do some research before posting premature criticisms of the film which has yet to be officially released and viewed in full.
If you were born to be human, you are all had the right. Furthermore, I wish Michelle Yeoh get nominee for the Oscar and earn her trophy in her born to be this role. ^♥^
Hey DiscoBoyGagaStick, hope you are enjoying humid Singapore! Ms Suu Kyi represents all Burmese: an enduring strength beneath those fragile smiles. Keep it up guys.
If she leads us , she will bring the whole new level of our Mother Land (Burma). I'm Burmese and I'm proud to be the way i am. Long live Mother Aung San Su Kyi.
The power of cinema upon a story that has needed to be told for many years! I hope it reaches the hearts and minds of the world and paves a new way for the people of Burma.
This trailer gave me goosebumps. I'm a Filipino wishing our Burman brothers freedom and democracy. Our country struggled too to have the democracy we are savoring today, I'm sure the Burman people can do that too. I believe that everyone deserves a life free from the dictates of a government.
I'm from Singapore but i'm always interested in Myanmar's political issues esp Ms Suu Kyi's endless fight for freedom. So to all the gentle Burmese out there -don't give up, keep on fighting guys.
@NousheenZoarder Myanmar is the name given to the country by the military dictatorship, which is why many other governments and people reject the name, preferring Burma instead.
