Airbus will just slide the US Government some millions of dollars of money to keep their employees employed. Just like they did with their "customers" for the very [in]efficient A340-series. The -600 is a joke, equip stronger engines that barely offer better fuel economy.
If they don't change their mantra, Tiahrt is right, Airbus will drop out of the competition.
They won't change it either. Look at their A380.
