  • I can't bear to watch this scene, I can't help to don't cry every time I watch it. It's so overwhelming and emotional....Excellent movie indeed!!!

  • I saw this film when it first came out and i left the cinema in awe. Iknew that i had just seen something that was very, very special. It is doubtful whether this film could be remade today on such a creative level.

  • Beautiful, moving <3

Please consider allowing ratings - many more lovers than haters in your audience.

    TY for an inspirational channel

  • @osysbites - Thanks for the warm comment.....

Maybe someday I'll allow ratings....But it's hard to say.

I'm so glad you enjoyed the movie clip.

    Best wishes...Always! : )

  • Really fascinating video.....I'm really amazed to see keller's water scene. This's is the first time I'm seeing this and you've done a great job....very emotional and touchy of course...The main thing I wanted to focus is on Helen's relationship with her teacher Annie and this is absolutely helpful for me..many a thanks to you.. :)

  • @BensLady135 - Hi Hannah,

Actually the Movie script is slightly different than the original event.

For one thing....I believe that a servant pumped the water for Helen and Her teacher Anne Sullivan.

I'm sure the whole event was somewhat dramatized....That's Hollywood! lol : )

    Thanks for your interest.

  • Is she trying to verbally say water? Because she wouldn't know how to say water, she couldn't hear.

  • @rleb09 - Helen Keller didn't become blind and deaf until the age of 19 months.(following an illness.)

The word "Water" was one of the only words she remembered from when she was a baby.

    Thanks for the great question.

    Best Wishes! : )

  • @IamHelenKeller I Have A Question,

We learned this in school, about her and Mr. Louis Braille..

But Helen Keller was Blind because she had High fever,Am I Right??

  • @JulzMapua - Yes.....that's correct.

She probably suffered from Scarlet fever....

Thanks for your interest : )

  • This scene made me cry tears of joy... i still don't understand how helen finally came to learn that objects and words had meaning... maybe because there was a teacher who finally opened her eyes and taught her to hear ( metaphorically speaking of course)

  • argh ill never be able to pull this off in my school's production of it >< thank you so much for this i need it...

  • @Money101Hogs - It might be hard to recreate the intensity of this scene.....

But I'm sure you'll do great.

    Good luck! : ))

  • when she hugged her parents i almost cried ;'] so powerful o_o

  • @crazymonkeyzane5 - Hi Jos3,

I agree..... that part of the scene was very emotional.

    Thanks for watching! : ))

  • @fisteberg :3 ikr

  • Actress pleying Helen doesnt look 6, more like 16...

  • @livkivi - Hi Lena,

    Yes....you are correct.

I believe Patty Duke was 16 when she played the role of Helen Keller in this movie.

    Thanks so much for watching!

    Wishing you a wonderful new week ! : )

  • Thank you, IamHelenKeller for posting this incredibly moving scene. Thank you Doug@CurzonRoad for sharing. Maya

This amazing scene still has the power to effect me, every time I watch it.

Thanks for the kind words, my friend!

    Sorry for the late reply.

    Warmest regards.....Always! : )

  • when i was younger and even more ignorant than i am now

i remember reading helen keller was a socialist in her adult years

that put her in a negative light for me a fervent beliver in markets

    back then

older now i find myself just admiring her courage and perseverance (sp?)

i cannot imagine life w/o sight and sound

this scene is the most moving movie experience i ever watched

and never loses its power - truly overwhelming ... and beautiful

    t/y for the 'tube

  • @JustAintthatWay Thanks so much for the fascinating and thought provoking comment, my friend.

Yes....Helen Keller was many different things in her life. (as most people are.)

This timeless and remarkable scene never grows old.

  • Very powerful scene!

  • @RapunzelNames - Hi Julia,

So glad you enjoyed the video clip....

Thanks so much for the kind comment.

    Warm Regards! : )

  • @PeterFormaini You are most welcome! :D

  • She knows!!!! what an awesome movie. Nobody comes close to Bancroft and Duke.

  • @MexiRican1964 - That's very true...

They were great together in this movie.

I also enjoyed Anne Bancroft as the teacher in the movie "The Birds".

    Thanks for watching! : )

  • I cried watching this. It's an amazing scene.

  • @jennifawasherr - Hi Jennifer,

I still cry when I watch this scene, sometimes.

Even though I've watched it hundreds of times!

    Thanks for the sweet comment.

  • @runly1 - Thanks for watching!

Yes....Helen Keller's story is very inspiring!

I'm so glad you enjoyed the video.

Thanks for the nice comment! : )

  • can someone please explainthis to me how did she know how to say water if she was blind and deaf ?! i dont get it

  • @002sprinkles She was not born blind and deaf that happened from a sickness. Her first word before it happened as a child was water so she knew the word from before.

  • @zybeco Yes sure! She also was very precocious as a baby.At six months she could say"how d'ye"for how do you do?"she didn't pronounce it correctly but she could babble it.She also could babble "tea"and other words such as WATER,etc....but after her illness poor Helen lost language and hearing and all these words......

  • why did she take tht women head and shake it very hard

  • I LOVED TO SEE THIS VIDEO! POWERFUL SCENE!

    MY FAV.

    KISSES. Maria Inês.

  • @9MARIAROSSI - Hi Maria,

thanks so much for the nice comment....

Yes, it is a very powerful scene.

    I'm happy you enjoyed it.

    Best wishes! : )

  • @IamHelenKeller Can you imagine the mind awakening from the darkness of it's existence and embracing the light of knowledge. She could finally see and feel the love of her family and appreciate her life. I am crying right now watching this scene and it's far from my first viewing. Patty Duke struggled so in her own life she truly conveys something extraordinary in her performance. She realizes the part so beautifully it will never be duplicated by any remake or retelling of the story.

  • Such a touching and wonderful scene.

Thanks for sharing this great video clip!

  • @spinekod - Thanks for the warm comment....

Glad you liked it : )

  • Helen kind of looks like Heromine

  • epic

  • @jaboop1 -My favorite scene from the film.....

    Thanks for watching : ))

  • @IamHelenKeller When I first heard about Heller Keller I got it in one of those chain txt messages saying that if i dont forward it ill end up like Hellen. Did this happen like this like how she reacted and her first word was water also how did she know how to say water if she couldnt hear and how did she learn brail without hearing or seeing also wasnt she mute?

  • @jaboop1 - Thanks for watching : ))

Actually, Helen Keller remembered the word "Water" from when she was a baby. Because she could see and hear, until she was 19 months old.

Then she caught an illness (probably a severe case of Scarlet fever) and she lost her sight and hearing).

Helen wasn't mute.... Mute means that someone doesn't have a voice.

Her teacher Anne Sullivan taught her braille. I have lots of videos on my channel that explain about Helen Keller, if your interested.

    Best Wishes!

  • @IamHelenKeller Whats Scarlet Fever

  • @jaboop1 - Scarlet fever is a contagious illness,.. that can cause blindness and deafness in severe cases.

  • @jaboop1 ok go to the video titled anne sullivan and hellen keller Rare...something like that...Anne explains how she taught her how to speak....Hellen could feel the vibrations by touching above the larynx and having her finger on her lips and another on her nose at the same time..this way she could how we articulate words and what is going on in our throats at the same time...deaf people are very tactile and depend on that heavily anyway sense they are without one or more of their other senses

  • When i was a kid my grandmother showed me this movie.

This is the part I never will forget

  • @AnneAulisRobin - Yes....it's a very dramatic scene from the film.

I'm so glad you enjoyed it.

    Best wishes....always! : ))

  • Helen Keller and Anne Sullivan are my heroines. This story and Helen's breakthrough is helping me get through some dark corners she went through and be set free. Thank you for posting.

  • @taurusgirl65 - I'm so pleased that you enjoyed the video....

And I think it's great that the video clip has been inspiring for you!

    Thanks for the kind comment!

    Warmest regards....always!

  • This scene is wonderful, the most emotional from the movie.Helen understood at last at the water pump the meaning of water! It is like a christening for her,a rebirth. She was born again this day.Wonderful!life came on her.Just gives me tears to the eyes.So powerful!!

  • @fisteberg Yes....I agree.

A very dramatic moment in the movie.

    Thanks for the excellent comment....

    Much appreciated!

  • Wasn't Helen Keller also mute?

  • @TheBloodRose74 Before she was. She just couldn't talk because nobody taught her how to.

  • @TheBloodRose74 - Actually Helen Keller Wasn't mute. ( Mute means = not having a voice.)

She was unable to speak words. Because she never learned to speak, by listening to other people.

Thanks for your interest...it means a lot.

    Have a great day! : ))

  • This is cool considering I literally live 15 minutes from her house.. I'm going to watch this movie now.

  • @MrChickenBurritos - I've never visited Helen Keller's birthplace.

But I'm sure it would be fascinating!

    Have a Great Day! : )

  • I don't understand.

    What's going on exactly?

  • @CrimsonTears2177 - Helen Keller,...who is blind and deaf has just discovered the connection between the words that have been spelled into her hand with sign language....and the object that it represents. It's a " Breakthrough " moment. She spoke the word "water" at the beginning of the video....because that's the only word she remembered learning, before she went blind and deaf at the age of 19 months. Due to an illness.

    Thanks for asking.....

    Best Wishes! : ) : )

  • Excellent piece of work!! Thank you very much for Sharing!!!!!

  • @ferochhas - Oi Fernando,

    Cumprimentos !

I met Patty Duke when she starred as Madame Morrible in Wicked San Francisco. Such a sweet woman! She was kind enough to have her picture taken with me. ;-)

  • @dawiz98 - It's nice you had the privilege to meet Patty Duke......

You can watch the whole movie, here on youtube, by typing "The Miracle Worker" into the youtube search bar.

    Have a Great Day!

  • I read that the clouds really did part and the sun shined on Patty's face right as Anne signed "teacher" to her and a single tear fell from Patty's eye (the eye facing the camera). If that scene is not a cinematic miracle, I don't know what is!
