I live so close to LHR i can see flights out of my window when they are goin in the right direction and hear them very clearly with windows open. I love it though so i choose to live here. People who complain etc etc know what they are living next too
well that's gay, if people don't like the sound of airplanes maby they should have considered that when they moved to the area instead of being snobs who can't handle sounds, look it's airplanes, everyone has to deal with it and people need to get over their problems!
The was the most . . . . stupid comment I've read. I'm learning to fly and love aviation but living right next to an airport runway is something else mate.
dang, they really planted it on the ground lol, i personally think they should get rid of the threshold here but i guess this is a normal lang here cause it's so darn short
These are sweet planes, I want a ride boooooooooo hoooooooooooo hooooooooooooo hoooooooooooo boooooooo hoooooooooooo hooooooooooooo, better than a black and white police car LOL

I don't really know much about the RJ85, but I was told once that the reason they don't have thrust reversers is because they were designed as a British military transport, and they didn't want debris from unpaved landing strips kicked up into the engines on rollout. I don't know the truth to this, but it sounds good to me... I think they have pretty complex and massive brakes though. There's an external angle RJ85 clip at London City that's crazy too. Maybe the same? Dunno. Neat though...
It´not true. The AVRO RJ (70/85/100) is a new developed aicraft, basing on the BAE 146 (there is no obvious difference from outside). The most importance advantages of the AVRO compared to the Bae 146 are: New, more reliable engines and a advanced cockpit with a completely different autopilot system (the same autopilot control panel as the 737-300/400/500) including autothrottle and autoland certified for CAT III.
London City has a 5.5 degree glidepath (the standard is 3 degrees). So an airplane is decending at a higher rate of speed than is normal. Couple that with LCY's somewhat short runway (4,948 feet), on which the good pilot is not going to work for a greaser and waste valuable runway space.
A 5.5 degree glideslope plus a short runway equals an "abrupt" landing. It's good piloting.
Youch..... Hard Landing

dude... nasty landing ... the BAe 146 has no thrust revers... like eeknl said, just huge speed brakes and spoilers ( i love that airplane)

ChrisAT1992 2 years ago

I live beside LFMN (Nice Cote d'Azur), second busiest in France - Thats loud !

wow what a flare, maby if he didn't come in so high, there is no reason for the 5 degree glide slope they should just go further back!

its LCY man what do you expect. You have a -1500ft/m glideslope in order to land in the touchdown zone.

correct me if im wrong, but bae146s dont have thrust reversers because they go slow in the first place.

This is a STOL (short takeoff, short landing) aircraft
johnlouisville 3 years ago 2
Dont really need them, they add weight, complexity etc and the four wheels provide enough braking
