@sunscrazy13 If you knew anything about baseball you'd know that grips and mechanics change player to player. The only "universal" grip there is is the 4 seam grip you throw around in the field.

And don't even get into mechanics. Tim Lincecum has "bad mechanics" and we see how well that worked out for him.

@13ARos Uh, for most people a cutter is basically a slider. It's the same pitch. A cutter is a slider that doesn't drop as much. You can remove some arm speed to get a slider motion and change an arm slot to help the ball move differently.

Lidge has been good as a closer, not as good as Rivera.

overall i think k-rod is better because he doesnt rely on one pitch like rivera relies on his cutter all the time, k-rod throws a variety of pitches every game and his curveball is nasty

Rivera has near 500 saves throwing basically one pitch. You would think that he would get hit a lot more because it's not like you don't know what pitch is coming next. But they still cannot hit him and it's that same pitch that got him to where he is today. And he would have the all time saves record had it not been for Trevor Hoffman still around.

Watch Rodriguez throw his curveball all the time and see how he gets hit.
