i have never really gone storage hunting but i did buy 1 locker about 3 years back for 200 bucks.
inside it i found 5 retro pairs of jordans 2 were basicly brand new and alot of old basketball jerseys if i were to sell the shoes they would of probly brought me in 2-3 grand.
with that being said i have friends who never get shit and ive heard its like gambling you always end up losing lol.
@Glendon007 yah lol i didnt just buy he locker random i went there with a friend who does it alot and i saw the jordan boxes ontop of another box only saw 1 but im big into js so i was like defently need to bid cause they said the locker was 8 years old so i knew that the js had tobe close to retro all in all im happy ive kept the shoes the one raging bulls 5 are my fav shoe.
i might goto another one next month only gonna spend like 400 though lol.
there is a lot of junk in units! think about it if you had good stuff stored in a unit would you just leave it. i have bought units what you see on tv is just that TV! tv is how they make money not left over junk in a unit!
I like fleamarkets----yard sales---and thrift stores-----so, why not storage auctions--well, one big reason is I just don't have the money to get started in that business---but if I ever get back in shape financially, here I come auction gurus--ha ha
Good vids, but with all due respect, that is not at all what the FHA is saying. They are pushing the banks NOT to foreclose, but to continue to re-do the mortgages to keep people in their homes. It is a directive from the White House to all major departments.
@sdclams That is the new directive. Remember it is an election year so sure they are going to change course and the OWS starting put a LOT of pressure on the foreclosure mess, banks were dragging their feet on foreclosures not to help the home owner but to make the balance sheet look better. Thanks for the feedback and watching!
@sdclams - I know real estate investors and that was the directive before we entered into an election year ;-) come man you know what time it is! Before that is was not that important!
Good video Glendon. Yeah, my partner and I figure when we get a decent couch, bed or dresser these days, they always go fast because people just don't have the money and have to have a great deal to buy anything at all. We always sell those items very fast these days. People always need the practical items. Oh, I also knew I had it made when I recently walked past some ugly childs desk at a furniture store. It was almost $100 for a total POS. It was then that I realized...
Erotica? Please don't tell there will be a book out about some guy popping off a stripper's high heel, to spooge in it and puts on her so she can footdom him some more.
It's fucking depressing in So Cal right now. People are wearing storage wars shirts at the auctions!!!?!?!?!? I love bidding them up and dropping it on them. Despite all the calculating and planning you can't make money unless you can get a unit for a low amount, which is near impossible unless the 200 people have a group mental lapse for 5 min.
I'm up to 75 units now for 2011 and am looking for other ways to make money.
why do babies need to see the unit? LEAVE THE KIDS AT HOME!!!
Kinda funny ...the auctioneer is the same guy on tv?(dan dotson) hmmmm....he is here in the bay area doing alot of auctions...do you think they leaked this story to drum up sales? The sad part is if the fucking newbie have kept his mouth shut he would have got $500,000...now he has to pay taxes! now he gets $250,000
"Am I going to do this with a great deal of energy & enthusiasm, or am I just going to sit on the sidelines and watch other people?"
That's kinda where I'm at right now and I hear what you're saying. I've only bought 3 units so far (2 were good) & I got them profitably only due to BOTH low turnout & people not knowing what the items were worth. 1 unit was stacked with MREs and the other with unexpired C2A1 gas mask filters/NBC gear. You've gotta smuggle out profit on the down low around here.
I'd say you're really taking a gamble after you exceed something like 70% of what you estimate the unit to be worth when you factor in your time and expenses. But if everyone can see the value, in my experience they'll bid it up to damn near retail or more every time. So most the people out there are gamblers. Now the game seems to be a matter of how you calculate you risk. How thin of a profit margin are you willing to work with?
listen to this i don't buy storage contains or expensive merchandise some time I buy at the yard sales some times I found it at the garbage good items good old furniture recondition it and sell it for good money as old good quality furniture and good items as bicycles, electric scooters, dinning sets reconditioned, I never risk any big money money and always get the double for the item's invested money been following your advice found a 14 karat ring and a silver coin for $4
There are no guarantees in any business! I left a company 3 years ago same time the owner sold out . He ran the business 15 yrs. He grew the company from 3 people to 200 people with close to $200 million turnover. 3 yrs later new owners went broke In Australia we don't have storage auctions. I buy from thrift stores and garage/yard sales. I started doing this before I saw all the youtube videos. My first purchase was cost me $5 i sold it on ebay for $75. if i lose I'm out a Mcdonalds value meal

...that we will have no problem selling practical items on CL. Living just outside a larger city that uses CL a lot helps too.

Aren't you still taking a gamble when you buy a storage unit? Are you guaranteed to at least recoup your money?
faheeta 3 months ago
@faheeta -THERE ARE NO GUARANTEES IN THIS BUSINESS!!! where did you get that notion from? You are taking a gamble each and every time you bid!!!
Glendon007 3 months ago
@faheeta you don't even have the guarantee that you will life tommorow, and monney guaranteed back makes me suspicious everytime i hear it.
