There aren't many corps that treat learning/knowledge as such a precious commodity, but I can definitely see the validity. I would have liked more case studies highlighting some of the challenges and not just the ideals.
I found the discussion very important not because of they are a professor, but also they came up with evidence that affects & facilitating an organization to be a learning one. I have just injected an idea of a learning organization in my department level. I have asked my self how should I know whether my dpt is practicing learning or not. I felt I have got some concept the importance of tools that gauge us to measure the way we are dealing with learning or not with learning. Abebe, Ethiopia
enjoyed the video..and would be keen on working on this issue of learning organization with Professor Garvin and Edmonson. I run my training and consulting firm Bangladesh
Ask anyone who works at GE or HAS worked at GE. This learning organization demands your best AND it demands success (Be in Top of your market or be gone, kind of stuff). Predictable processes of learning and review, yes. But dynamic and challenging.
Challenge 4 the high-performing GE up & comer, like in many high-growth learning organizations is how 2 B Terrified & Risk Taking at the same time, Smart & Humble, Aspiring & Self Effacing, Standing Out & Making Others Better, Bruised & Resilient
Leave it 2 Harvard to make something as exciting as organizational learning sound painfully boring. Come on guys!
Only thing worse is thought of taking a survey on it. Sorry.
Organizations that learn are vibrant, demanding, dynamic. Feelings get hurt all over the place but the goal of getting the nugget of learning or getting the next business project right is more important. The CEO opens him or herself up to forums that question major decisions and future plans. Not for the faint of heart.

banks took risks to but went to far and took economy down that is why we are suffering today. we cant make mistake in every organisation. becouse if doctors starts doing experiments on patients what would happen the way bankers experimented on banks money and drowned it
i thought the content was fine, right on for how to take steps and move to action within work teams. Logistically, I thought it was odd they didn't look at the camera, maybe move the interviewer so the conversation is viewed as we are talking to them. Or angle a bit wider, so it is more open vs side view.
I would like to thank the people behind this video put together and David Garvin and Amy Edmondson for their highly useful insights. Their input helped me to a distinction in my Knowledge Management Module. Keep up the good work.
the learning components have always been there, they just were not considered as a business strategy with direct impact on the bottom line, nor overall customer satisifaction. Now it's a different game and a different time.
Good analysis of the learning organisation. Information and the way your managers utilize it, is really a crucial step in creating an innovative culture.

Great information. The answers sounded a bit too rehearsed though.
