  • try a ruger 10/22 i have tried many different brands hollow point bullets and ive never had a jam, i have put over 3000 rounds through it and it still works fine

  • I've been using Federal Champion (brick of 525) and have had pretty good luck with it. The last boxes I've bought are coated in wax. WAX? Consequently I'm getting about 30% failing to chamber. Has anyone else had a problem with these rounds? TIA

  • I purchased my savage 64 two days ago. Along with a box of the winchester bulk hollow points. Loaded the magazine to full capacity and it would not chamber a single round. After a lengthy tare-down and inspection it turned out to be the clip. The machined "ramp" on the front of the clip was actually cutting into the lead holding it from moving up the ramp. Dropped the bottom out of the clip and took a 1/4" round file and gently "flushed" the base of the ramp with the inside of the mag.

  • @slyder2k6 200 rounds later i havent had a single problem out of it. This is not telling anyone in any way to modify your magazine/clip or what ever you wanna call it. I am telling you how i fixed my problem. I love the savage line of guns. But this seems to be a common problem with this clip. I hope this helps anyone else having the same problem.

  • Savage rifles always seem to shoot CCI well... i know that sounds strange. My model 93 .22 WMR and my Mark II .22 lr savages shoot CCI better than any other manufacturer ive used.

  • I only have the 2 u recomended funny

  • @Stuntdriver442

Nice, saves you some money and some bullshit. I'd still make sure to brush out your feeding path real nice.

  • The 555 pack is rubbish, they drop short and vary in distance all the time. The Federal Value Pack aint a false HP. I pulled some out of birds i shot. It mushroomed perfectly. Better than PROPER HP`s like 555.

If im using hunting ammo. I use Remmington Yellow Jackets, there lethal. CCI Velociters are the ducks nuts, best of the best IMO. Stingers, Segemented HP`s. Would rather use them over Mini Mags. More power.

  • my 64f prefers remington hd hypersonics more than anything, and they are absolutely deadly when it comes time to catch one of our roosters for thanksgiving, or to thin the population of skunks. You may want to try those out if you are in the mood to shoot shoot some varmints.

  • Mine eats up all ammo(HP/RN) fine..."IF" I use certain mags I have. Other mags I have are just problematic. I have been shooting bulk Win 555 recently with no problems. Mini Mags are the best by far. I buy a pack a month while shopping and just save them now. I think .22 has gone up "over" 200% in the past 10 years and I kick myself for not stocking up then. I am younger but I do remember bricks for $7. I have shot everything you showed fine minus the 2 small Federal packs. Lucky I guess.

  • i have a savage mark II f bolt action and the winchester bulk ammo shoots really bad out of my gun but the winchester super x shoots amazing idk if its the gun or something else just thought id let ya know

  • great info man, i got the same box of those federal hollow point or a dented rounds and im glad im out of em. I found your review of this ammo to be right on, and thanks for the tip on the cci rounds im gettin some tomorrow. mounted a bipod on my savage 62 and its all your fault. lol. later man shoot well.

  • i have a savage mark 2 gxp and i haven't had any problems yet with my Winchester 555 box and i fired more than half the box but i guess my gun just likes winchester

  • blazers by cci are the best

  • he doesnt shoot any ammo.

    your welcome.

  • I have the new savage 64 trr-sr and it eats anything I feed it, the only ammo I don't think is worth even a cent for a box of 500 it that thunderbolt crap, doesn't shoot straight and feels weak. Maybe savage has fixed the problem with the new line

  • I love that 555 Winchester. Groups touching each other at 50 yards. Please see my video Mossberg Plinkster Accuracy.

  • diffrent ammo for diffrent guns

  • I run a bolt, have shot most successfully with the exception of remy. They'er shit.

  • Not to hate on your gun savage makes nice guns but it must just be your gun cuz my ruger 10/22 performs flawlessly with winchester 555 and 333

I think they are the same though... Nice review tho

  • @A7Delgado

Yeah, I was testing the relationship between different 22LR rounds and the Savage 64, not the quality of the rounds in general. It's good to hear that the ruger 10/22 works well with hollow points. I like the ruger 10/22, but I think I need to get serious and buy an 870 and 1911 before I get another 22.

  • @A7Delgado

    yeah all rifles have preferences

  • Thank you for this video... I got like 300 rounds of mini mags for free and had no idea they were actually great. finally, ima go shoot those things.

  • @pooknuckle13

    No problem, have fun.

  • Winchester is good ammo but its horrible in semi autos. It makes excellent ammo for bolt guns and would probably work fine in lever guns.

  • @slowride55

Yeah, I've seen guys with bolt action 22's that love the stuff, but the Savage 64 hates it for sure.

  • @TheSavageKnife Yeah my buddy has a Savage mark II 22LR and he shoots 333 out of it and I dont think hes had a problem yet. Lol any ammo is better than remingtons joke ammo!

  • @slowride55 my 10/22 feeds just about everything, but i always buy the winchester 555 boxes. they're cheap and usually i rarely have problems using them.

  • @111dogon555 I just got a 10/22 and its ate almost a whole box of federal 550 and hasnt malfunctioned yet. What a great gun :D

  • Which was the most accurate?

  • @battlefieldchris

Its hard to tell, I was shooting at a square foot gong 200 yards away using a red dot sight with no magnification. CCI Mini Mag was consistent and the Gold Medal Federals are standing out in my memory. I'm planning on buying a nice scope soon and becoming more accurate.

  • CCI is seriously the best ammo I've ever shot

  • @AssassinSteven

Yeah it's great, I love how easy it is to keep track of how many rounds you put through your rifle too.
