This is definitely not 1 step... check the number of iterations.... this is at worst logarithmic.

Easy to understand but not as easy as the way everyone has been thought already, There is to many calculations to do, where a slight miss calculations will mean you get the answer one. The golden rule in anything is that simplicity is best! Because there is less to go wrong. Its still good to learn other methods though!!!
