What I learned happened with Cash for Clunkers, is that it persuaded people who were living within their means to live outside of it by taking a car that was paid for and running, and turning it in for a 4200 dollar voucher on a new car that they couldnt afford. So, now, they have no car, due to failure to keep up with payments, and perfectly good running cars get destroyed and in the meantime the national deficit is rising! Its like saying, ditch your good old couch and go to rent a centre.

That 305 engine probably gets just as good as gas milage as that POS Kia. The B-Body Caprice is definately an american classic, and will last alot longer tnan some POS kia. @civicboy123 Still to this day this was one of the nicest 92 Caprices I have seen in ALONG TIME. Not a dent was on it. Just the bumper cover had some stress cracks from backing into something but thats no big deal.

all it had was a little rear ended damage. The bumper cover had some scratches and the bumper shocks looked like they were pushed in a 1/8 inch. Nothing crazy..
What broke probably wont break again for awhile. at 100k my car needed some work too... It still is cheape to opperate than a new car and people dig it.
OptiSpark, fuel pump, fuel sending unit, water pump, etc, etc. Plus, needed brakes and a/c recharge. So, you're right, those things should last for a while now.
You did the right thing for keeping the car. Oh, and be sure to replace the OptiSpark vent harness or else your new opti may fail again very soon. The Fleetwood is a classic now. Sell it to a fan when you are done with it. There are plenty of us out here. DO NOT SELL IT TO THE GOVERNMENT who is paying for these cars using OUR TAX DOLLARS or loans from foreign countries, and then destroying the perfectly good assets that they are investing in! What sense does that make?

A friend of mine has a nice maroon one with 305 and 55K actual miles--the honeycomb wheels with the open rear wheel openings. And we thought things were nutty in the 70's. Wait'll people look back from 20-30 years and see this!

Its going to happen! Time will tell!People rolled these cars at 100mph and they walked away.... I had a kia cut me off hours after i filmed this. I slammed on the brakes and looked at the 5 occupants inside.... Deaths will happen.. But I guess its our fault because we drive something rare and unique that gets 25+ mpg Highway that is a decade old.

Well get this I saw a 1990 Crown Vice at my local Toyota Dealer will LESS than 5K original miles. No joke. I am trying to make a tribute video for that car. Car was in better shape then my 2006 car.

That 305 engine probably gets just as good as gas milage as that POS Kia. The B-Body Caprice is definately an american classic, and will last alot longer tnan some POS kia. You could've easily gotten $3000 all day long for that caprice. Very Sad. This will be the next thing that happens to Humans, Euthanasia.

@civicboy123 Still to this day this was one of the nicest 92 Caprices I have seen in ALONG TIME. Not a dent was on it. Just the bumper cover had some stress cracks from backing into something but thats no big deal.

@civicboy123: I know your comment is from a year ago, but yeah you're right, I have a 93 with a 305, and believe it or not, i get close to almost 30 mpg highway!, caprice's are legends of the road and especially highways!

all it had was a little rear ended damage. The bumper cover had some scratches and the bumper shocks looked like they were pushed in a 1/8 inch. Nothing crazy..

Well, I seriously considered "Clunking" my '96 Fleetwood Brougham LT1 (93,000 miles) since the repair bills this year alone total over 3,000 dollars.
But, I'd rather just put a little more money into it to get it back to new condition than see it get crushed.
Oh well, I'll just wait until the Volt comes out to get a new car.

What broke probably wont break again for awhile. at 100k my car needed some work too... It still is cheape to opperate than a new car and people dig it.

OptiSpark, fuel pump, fuel sending unit, water pump, etc, etc. Plus, needed brakes and a/c recharge. So, you're right, those things should last for a while now.

You did the right thing for keeping the car. Oh, and be sure to replace the OptiSpark vent harness or else your new opti may fail again very soon. The Fleetwood is a classic now. Sell it to a fan when you are done with it. There are plenty of us out here. DO NOT SELL IT TO THE GOVERNMENT who is paying for these cars using OUR TAX DOLLARS or loans from foreign countries, and then destroying the perfectly good assets that they are investing in! What sense does that make?
