I think it's true men are more proactive in establishing relationships - a lot of the initial legwork, including introductions and the "courtship," traditionally fall to men. But in my relationships and other areas of my life, I've never "waited" for anything to happen. Career-wise and goal-wise, I've extremely progressive. I never made romance a real priority. The relationship I'm in now just happened by circumstance.

I'm not really sure if it's a good idea to go around grabbing hold of people and stopping them- in some states that is actually considered assault.
Ex. from the Texas Penal Code:
"Intentionally or knowingly causes physical contact with another when the person knows or should reasonably believe that the other will regard the contact as offensive or provocative."
So, if you go grabbing hold of some woman and she is offended she can press assault charges on you, which is a felony.

One of the few women's shows I can stand, I like Tyra. Of course the pickups were not natural because it wasn't hidden camera, but looks like they did talk to random women on the street. They invited that one back to the audience and she was sort of sexy in my opinion, i'm sure that trainee guy would have been happy with her.
