  • Erie is a great place for railfanning. The CSX mainline is very busy - the NS less so - and there are plenty of safe spots to watch the trains without trespassing. Occasionally there is some action on the Buffalo & Pittsburgh (ex-Allegheny RR, former PRR Philadelphia & Erie sub) mainline as well. Too bad the NS street running section on 19th Street is gone, though.
