we are forced to go to walmarts, publix, etc etc etc, with our jobs too, and schools, everything. in other countries you can walk everywhere, or ride a bus.

received a bunch of phone calls from friends today, many in a state of panic as to where to invest....If the US banking sytem fails..or at least falters some more..where can people invest in order to weather the storm? gold? silver? hard assets? real estate? what will have value? Im thinking of buying some homes both here and abroad, but im not sure if they will just continue to deflate in value...then there is gold, silver...im not sure! any advice?

I think I read somewhere that every great nation or government lasts about 200-250 years before it collapses.
I mean it's inevitable. Just look at the history of all the great nations. They eventually collapsed. Whether it was political or economical.

All we need to do really is go back to basics, stop spending, have a simpler life, go back to natural, if every person that has a back yard could plant some vegetables, and eat them, try to use less gas, do more excercise on bikes, etc etc, it would be much better, USA is a country pretty much designed to have ultra consumism, everything is far, instead of having little grocery shops close to the house,

Our full national debt is $70 trillion with all obligations-- and anyone in USA in 5 years, will be paying for it. Either through explicit taxes, or massive inflation and loss of dollar value (which is a tax). For young, productive households, the cost is $450,000 and rising.
I think that's why my old associates are emigrating-- they know this. They see our tax dollars pay for imperial wars, bailouts for rich plutocrats, while in e.g. Germany, the taxes pay for great schools and infrastructure.
