Jackson 5 was that good because by this time they had been practicing to perform for hours everyday for about five years. And if they didnt get it perfected in rehearsal they would have gotten a belt on the backside. So they had a little extra motivation to get it right. People talk about their dad being harsh but he is the main reason we were able to experience a Michael Jackson in our lifetime.

Anyone notice the best songs -- the early ones -- became too fast after 1969, & often became medleys instead of full songs. Man, I really hated the variety show format for white audiences. They should have just had just let real stars like J5 perform their songs, in full, & scraped all of the not-funny attempts at comedy. Unfortunately, there was no MTV. As the band matured, the quality of songwriting went seriously downhill. Only the clothes improved, away from these clown suits.
