Well lendl certainly moonballed his way out of this match , im not suprised Cash had the injuries he did either given how he was jerked round the net.
I will never forget this day of tennis 8th september 1984 all 3 matches went the distance in sets the day finished at 11.15pm at night when mcenroe defeated connors.The CBS commentators decided to name the day SUPER SATURDAY.This year being the 26th year of SUPER SATURDAY at the US OPEN.
Pat Cash admitted that losing this match took over a year for him to get over, and admitted in a Tennis magazine article that he would trade this match with Lendl for his 1987 Wimbledon title whom he defeated for.
This defeat probably shortened his career quite a bit. However, he improved his first serve after this match and that is what helped him win Wimbledon.
this is crazy!Ivan Lendl is the only player that i would say"no i'm not going boating on the 4th of July i have to watch tennis!"my favorite player of all time.(i have an autographed photo)after he faded out i completely lost interest.but really,this is nuts Duke and now Lendl? were we separated at birth? thanks!!!

Cash and Rafter are sensational SV players. Noone ever reached the net so fast as they did.

@ulizinho what about Edberg?

Cash got robbed on that ace call. He should have won the match.
