  • Recorded for CANDID Records Out Front album, in New York on 17 MAR 1961. Quiet, Please and A New Day were also recorded at this session. The orig. vinyl album also has this unit’s 04 APR session (but w/ Ron Carter, not Art Davis, on bass).

The dissonance lends itself to a bigger sound than consonant sound will. Flat notes portray more feeling.

Booker Little passed away 05 OCT 1961, 23 years old.

Thank you for such a great post. :I:

  • Amazing trumpeter. So little is known about this guy, but what he accomplished in his short life was astounding.

  • Love this tune - wrote it out while I was at music college 30 years ago. And do you know, I don't think I've ever played it on a gig. About time I did.

  • Booker Little Sextet - Out Front

Booker Little / Eric Dolphy / Max Roach / Don Friedman / Ron Carter / Julian Priester

By the way, thanks for posting this. The world needs more Booker Little and Eric Dolphy.

  • Which album is this?
