We used to park our motorbikes on the Buttercross in the late1960s, and go to the cafe round the corner opposite The Crown where we often drank a yard of Ale or Cider. Saturday night would mean congregating in (in what I think used to be called The Railway ) before catching the bus to Wem dancehall or occasionaly Whitchurch or Shrewsbury. I used to work Shire/ Suffolk Horses for Frank Gough at Sydnal farm Woodseaves, and herdsman for The Shropshires at Canal farm, happy memories of Drayton.
Bloody trumpton. the biggest employer is a friggin pie factory and a yoghurt dairy. I hade the misfortune of working in dumpton for 3 years. And to quote a colleague "they should build a wall around it and flood the place".
Love the clip. Takes me back to home town. Always thought grass was greener on the other side but as one ages one realizes it's not as 'greener' as imagined.
Nice to see the old town online. Can't help but look for someone in it that I recognise but so far none found. It was my home town as a child but I was glad to leave it at the time. Being older and wiser I see more of it's charm now.

It’s a shame that most of the shops in the video clip have now closed and are boarded up!
