I heard this as my daughter was checking it out and she had the treble down so the drums were prominent and I at first thought it was Robert Sweet, Dude you kick on the drums, I saw them live back in the day and RS was nutz, he used his head on gongs and tore up some drummage. I would put him in the same class as Tommy Lee, Rikki Rocket, Neil Peart and whats his name from metallica. you could make it big time with your playing.
@thekevenator most of the drummers you listed suck man! lol Neil Peart is awesome, but Lars, Tommy and Rikki are all terrible, specifically Rikki and Lars, Tommy is the best of those 3, Rikki the worst.
Nothing personal of course, just stating my opinion, and that of many, many others
Dude, Tommy Lee couldn't touch Robert Sweet with a 1,000 foot pole. Robert Sweet is so much more involved and accentuated than Tommy Lee and his "drug head" approach. Neil Peart? Totally different Jazz / Rock style than Robert, but skill wise I'd say they're equal. Rikki Rocket? Are you kidding?
@cvhf650 According to a biography of Stryper that came out a few years ago, Robert Sweet recorded the entire "Soldiers Under Command" album with a single bass drum and peddle although there are definitely spots where it sounds like he is playing a double.
I taught myself to play drums to that album and this is probably my favorite song on the album and one of my top 5 from Stryper.
excellent EXCELLENT cover. very tight and atteneion to detail. I am a bass playe, so that was Strypers weakest link in my opinion...the bassist. The vocals and the guitar work was what made them stand out to me. Listening to this makes me realize how good the drummer had to be.
Wow! #1 you rock and #2 are you single? Kidding, okay only half. SERIOUSLY - I LOVE that song! Always have. Was at work desperately trying to find streaming Stryper when I first heard this. Finally found ya YouTube. Wow! Awesome song and that's some awesome drumming man!
Why are you NOT in a band? Stage fright? You need to either get live in front of real people or get in the studio and be a studio musician. You're good!
Thanks man! It is not a stage fright issue. I have been playing in front of people since I was 12. It is more of a timing issue in this stage of my life.
i love it too man!!!!i`m a drummer also, mi band`s name is playboy and we love hard rock...it`s great to see other people that enjoy metal as much as we do.congrat`s!!!!
Dude, that was awesome! A little fast at times but thats what playing live is. Great Job! Love this song.

Thank you very much! I miss the old days of the 1980's. I've seen Stryper only 2 times but they (RS) was a huge influence on me.

was the original guy kicking those bass drums like this or is that how you "upgraded" this one? awesome work man. Good job.

Thank you very much! Yep, that is definitely me adding in my own flavor to this song with the double kicks.

@seanmc31076 That's impossible. He had to have used two bass drums for Together Forever, The Rock That Makes Me Roll, Reach Out and Surrender.
gspot27 10 months ago
@gspot27 I agree but I know what I read. Maybe Robert Sweet was just bragging.
