Everything's phonetic, and the A is like the Australian way of pronouncing DAY.

SHEESH... native English speakers can't even read Romanized letters properly. English missionaries created the alphabet for the language.

Just like TUQIRI - Aussie commentators always used to say (maybe they still do?) TUKIRI, instead of TUNG-GI-RI.  The letter Q is pronounced NG-G...
