That wasn't an oil pipe. It's a hot water pipe that carries geothermal water to the city to heat up their houses. It's a very green community. Most of the energy production (around 98%) is in geothermal and hydroelectric power. Iceland uses very little oil. In fact they only use oil for cars which they're trying to stop by trying out alternative fuel.
I just watched the fan fest video ( watch?v=QRbxQqIskSE&feature=related ) and it looked like a heck of a lot of fun. I wish I was there.
