This song is about the female orgasm. In the lyrics she refrences a friend, 'she', who describes the sensation of experiencing an orgasm in a one night stand, 'they exchanged a look, an hour later her voice shook', she comes so hard 'she never wants to recover'. Ms Grogan on hearing this tale, and having been Gregory's Girl, so obviously had never had an orgasm is in a jealous denial 'don't talk to me about love' and 'couldn't be that good, said it would'. The oppositeof 'your love is king' Sade
Being a sad bastard - this was playing the night I broke up with the girl I maybe should have married.............has stuck in my mind ever since- Jesus, am I getting old.
have to say that to come from the celluloid shite that is gregorys girl,to being the most amazing pop babe of her generation is quite a feat, claire grogan we salute you, love this tune, one of the definitive 80s tunes.
About a year before this song came out I saw Gregory's Girl and laughed my ass off. I fell in love with the girl in the movie. Then I saw her on the video for this song. My god she is a gift...still after all these years.
Did anyone see that article in the paper recently about how girls are apparently becoming more beautiful with each generation? Now, does anyone else watching this want to disagree with that?
@verysmallclock Females are getting really boring looking now. They are obsessed with weight, makeup , celebrity, reality TV, talent shows, bingo etc in such a way like never before. They all look like clones, every last bloody one. The mothers keep trying to look like their daughters lol
I think that was right and the episode was shown on uk gold and that they showed a trailer of 3 songs from Orange Juice, Duran Duran, and David Bowie were on that edition and John Peel and David Jensen hosted it aswell.
This is what i saw on a uk gold trailer for top of the pops 80s on one of the dvds i picked up. or was this ever shown on uk gold this performance and give me the correction of the date please which had Orange Juice, Duran Duran, and David Bowie!
No mickey, it was 23rd March 1983, it was live with John Peel & David Jensen, UK Gold repeated it and of course Eurovision was on TOTP's old Thursday night slot, so they had it move to Wednesdays for one week.
I stand corrected then Glamking1. Didn't realise Eurovision was on the same week. Love your avatar by the way - Roll on series 3 of "Ashes" which will be probably be set in 1983 - the year that this performance is from.
One of the best songs ever

This is a high point for the image's, and also a high point for 80's pop...it really is very good.
The overall sound is very modern and the new wave of light synth bands have more than a passing resemblence..
