there is a standard key for all the strings or depends your taste??? its impressing how you can bend the strings and after that they still sound so good!! great piece
theres a standard key, but mostly you pick what you like the sound of. i believe the notes go ,a,g,g,d,c. as for differant kinds of zithers. i do not know.
Just found out that this is actually a Japanese piece that was written by a Japanese Master. Which was not meant to be played on a Chinese guzheng but rather a Japanese one. 毛ㄚtook it to another level and proved the master wrong and inspired us once again that nothing is impossible. Not only her dedication to this instrument but the way she carried herself while playing is truly masterful. Too bad she's not a performer but a music researcher. A true on-of-a-kind treasure.
Amazingly modern techniques in such a traditional instrument! Refreshing and impressive. One of the best guzheng performers to date. Carefully controlled but not restrained. Tuning the bridge in the middle of performing is shockingly accurate. Unbelievable. Modest, yet astonishing. Not familiar with this specific piece but sounds like it contains Japanese influences. 6 stars.
The spacing between the white koto bridges and the wooden gu zheng bridges makes it easy to slide into the desired scale. These things are usually prepared way in advanced before the performance. This is the versatile nature of the gu zheng and koto instruments.
This is a lovely piece! And the performer plays with such expression.
It's fun to hear songs with a less strongly pentatonic flavour. There's so much more to Chinese music than the D major pentatonic, and this piece really shows that.
