Good video. I've had a petricola trio for a couple years now and have used the pot, marble and bowl but no sucess! I've heard feeding them well will intice there spawning but there already the greediest fish in my tank lol. Any tips?
My lucipinnis (aka dwarf petricola ) has a HUGE belly and its eyes are like popped out. Do you think its pregnant? Im sure im not overfeeding them, i would actually say im underfeeding.
@Chronicho2 Yes lucky you indeed. Petricola eggs are scattered well, therfore it is easy to have a few survive amoungst the aquarium landscape. If you have course gravel and or plants it is easy ro raise a a few with out a rearing tank or special collectiion means. However for commercial endeavors, this video method is standard minus the bowl and cichlids of course.
But still i dont like cichilds :P But when i got my new tank, i gonna buy a pair just 2 of ciclids for the mouthbreeding stuff whit a couple of petricola's.. Just like tangika ^^ well i wanna try if it works.. I also have a Chana Pulchra (snakehead) wich live's on some tetra kinda fish :P
Thank you for sharing this awesome video! I have 3 of these and have been wondering what I was doing wrong waiting/hoping for them to breed oneday, this will help increase the odds and once i see eggs just pull and tumble and pray for some living fry right?
ha ha i was thinking wow! no filter? no airation?? tiny bowl?? ahhhh and then the camera zoomed out!! great vid

@ Leo With eyes popped out sounds like it could be a bloat problem.

Awesome, thank you for sharing! I've been looking for a video of spawning petricolas for a long time! Any success in raising their offspring?
laugharound 5 years ago
Yes, no problem raising young. 300 - 400 young per clutch. Slow growers though 6 months before they are 1.5 inch or so.
