  • did u go to jacumba are there cops watching the locos there ven tho they rust

  • @orangetrain66

We parked just outside the nudist resort and rode down the tracks. Take plenty of extra inner tubes, we ended up changing a lot inner tubes. The metal rails on along side the trestles seem to really cut into the tube.

  • @orangetrain66

There are patrols at times in the area to keep mtn bike riders off the tracks.

  • Some cool footage but some of it could be edited down. We don't need 30 seconds of you looking in a circle. 10 will do just fine.

  • We agree , the edit was on the quick.

  • Everybody's a critic

  • Not too dangerous anymore. The carrizo gorge railway runs the line but hard times have hit them too. Down from 1 or 2 freight trains a day to 1 or 2 a week makes it easy to stay away from railroad cops.

  • How many miles did it take you? In addition, could you hike it?

  • Nice video. I'm surprised some clowns haven't tried turning the bridge into the world's largest bonfire.

  • hello.since it is closed now and you can get a 500 dolalr ticket. we were thinking of hiking in a bit and then get o nthe tracks and try to find that tunnel. i have lost the messages you sent me bout a month ago. sorry. is it before the big bridge? after? by the small bridge? where exactly. please more info would be greatly appreciated as i may go this weekind or nexzt week.

  • hey its me again. is that long dark tunnel before the tressel or after? how do you get there again?

  • @fighterace34

On the way down it's before the trestle

  • Is the railroad in use currently? Is it safe/legal to hike in the area?

  • The music really makes this video

  • where can you get to that one long dark tunnel? where do you start? i was in that area last weekend and we didnt have time to go there.

  • How "dangerous" is it? I've biked and hiked on plenty of active railroads. Aside from the risk of the railroad police, how often is the line actually in use? I'd be surprised if there are more than 1-2 trains per day. Is it that difficult to simply get off the tracks if a train is coming? I'm thinking of hiking or biking this line in a few months. Anyone know if early morning Sunday is best to avoid trains, etc?

  • There are patrols thru the area to keep trespassers off the track. If youre found riding on RR property you will be arrested. So be careful you may want to check to see if they allow with permit access to the tracks.

  • just did the ride today, amazing.. however not sure if you saw this, but at exactly 8:07 in your video, you see above the trestle two faces in the mountains. it's very interesting.

  • Wow!! Had never seen the two faces before. It's almost getting season(end of Nov to mid April) to riding bikes out there. Any idea if it's open to Mt bike riders yet?

    Anthony

  • This Area very dangerous due to train service being resumed.

    This video isn't current.

  • That is correct with the train currently running it's a very dangerous ride and may be against law.

  • So it's open to mtn bikers now? Planning a trip for January.

  • There are times when this ride is bearable temperature-wise. During the winter it wasn't bad. If they do re-open to bikes, make sure you bring a lot of water and spare tubes. This was one of the epic rides.

  • What an amazing video! I was just out there last week, didn't see any trains but we stayed off the track mostly which is unfortunate because i really wanted to get the real feel of the rail like you guys. thanks for posting though and we'll be going back for sure!

  • great footage.. thanks.. we were thinking of trying to ride out there but decided against it. too far to drive too far to ride and now hearing that its opened to traisn and closed to bikes? perhaps someday soon they will offer scenic train rides out from san diego? wouldnt that be amazing

  • It's a very interesting ride plus to witness some amazing engineering along the way through the tunnels and wooden trestles. We do hope they open it up to mt. bike riders later in the future.

  • give us AMTRAK service

  • Doesn't it get up to 110 dgrees sometimes at the desert floor? Plenty of water?
