Same result, your dealing with some1 unbelievably high and not thinking rationally.. Basically the Biker punched him when he bum rushed the stage and was thrown back into the crowd. Now countless others did the same thing and were treated exactly the same way by the Hells Angels and not 1 of them chose to pull a gun out??? So (Meredith Hunter) is responsible for his own death... Its really a sad situation, I'm sure the Bikers didn't mind killing him and shit but they are hardly guilty
Ok you guys are all fucking retards (Don't comment until you watch the whole video) Now think about this 1 time.. The individual that brought this gun was high as fuck on METH, ok do you think this was his 1st time on METH?? No it wasn't, that's not how shit generally works, so he knew he was going be tweaking and still brought a gun. So he gets offended by biker security being rough and shit. So ask yoselves what would have happened if the regular security would have thrown him out?
The Rolling Stones are to completely to blame for the tragedies at Altamont. Hiring the Hells Angels was the biggest mistake ever. Second, no barrier between the stage and the audience. If you remember Woodstock, there was indeed a barrier set up. This was a disaster waiting to happen because this concert was so poorly put together at the last minute.
@cutis1000 I believe the stage was higher at Woodstock if I’m not mistaken. I've heard that mentioned a few times in various documentaries and interviews comparing the two events. You'll notice that was a problem right from the start. At 54:44 event organizers complain about people on the stage.
The hells angels the worlds most violent criminal organization in the world should have been rushed by the people there and shown who they were fukin with, goes to show ya what a fuked up time altamont was
@csykes23 I know that that they were asked but they had not to be there. The public was made of hippies or cool peoples, the Stones played with the devil that day.
Call themselves men? Bunch of bullies. I hope every one of the Angels got a nasty disease & died a painful death. Sonny Barger & his pals.Bunch of arseholes.
I want to thank you for this! An absolutely incredible documentary. Thank you for allowing me to see this film. It really captured the atmosphere and weight of that horrible night! I felt like I was there! This is such an underrated documentary! It should be up there with the greatest Music documentaries of all time!
Are you saying its the hells angels fault that a man on drugs had a gun? Sure, I can agree that the HA might have provoked an attack, but let's not forget that they disarmed a man in the dark who was likely to commit murder on someone - probably innocent - who was in the wrong place at the wrong time (which includes the band who hired them)
Let's no forget only an idiot would hire them in first place, but the HA did what they were as
@LifeofJob WRONG. Here was a situation where an outlaw, predatory gang was let loose upon kids just wanting too hear some good music. Why didn't you mention Woodstock, where there were LOTS of drugs and NO VIOLENCE(no Hell's Angels)proving that ,with the exception of Methamphetamine and one or maybe two others, people can partake peacefully off "illegal drugs'" When people get the ugliest, most vioent, is when under the influence of good 'ole alcohol-- Available to the booze addict legal.
@fritzquarar NIce. Alcohol prohibition with readily available legal cannabis would produce widespread peace, love and understanding: American Fascists and their British cousins have made sure that never happens. Remember the invasion of Ethiopia in 1935?
Maybe not, but it has stark similarities with the invasion of Iraq, and was the first consolidated fascist or co-mingled Imperialist Adventure (as the USA, British, French and Italians all gave the go ahead to invade and slaughter the innocent).
@fritzquarar "Here was a situation where an outlaw, predatory gang was let loose upon kids just wanting too hear some good music" Wow your fucked in the head. So what happens when 1 of these "kids" pulls a gun out & is about to Blow Micks fucking brains out what then?? You are seriously blaming the Hells Angels for this incident???? Really????
The Hells Angels did not agitate this man at all, the man brought a gun to a concert full of people what was he expecting to happen??
The very end is the best part. That live version of gimme shelter is amazing! And all the hippies migrating to the next place theyre gonna fuck up. Beautiful. just beautiful. Goddamn hippies.
@suim2007 That took hold onto everything except the Rolling Stones. For the Rolling Stones can be blocked by no one, not even Robert Plant and his very tight jeans.
Thanks for posting this. In the bit from Ike & Tina Turner's set Tina Turner is almost pornographic! Notice that Charlie Watts doesn't even have a ride cymbal & they didn't even have monitors to hear themselves (& no barrier between the audience & the band)! Bands today have tons of equipment & they're nowhere as good as this, mostly 'cause they have nothing to say... no contemporary band has written an anthem like Street-fighting Man although there's been plenty of action all over the world!
J'étais au concert de Nice pour la tournée 76 ... un peu trop tard... ce qui avait fait les Stones commençait à se dissoudre dans la routine et le business. Chacun y trouvera son compte, à sa façon sans doute...
