@eurekajones1 You don't know shit! The Hammond's were directly responsable for blues getting to the mainstream. Why do you think he is in the Rock HOF? JH has paid his dues and you get back to trash diggin' 'cause that's where you get your news!
Who cares what you think? That is not meant to be agressive or mean in any way, but I'm seriously asking: Who cares what your opinion is on music? I came to watch this video because I really enjoy the music, the fact that you don't like his singing (or his music) is not going to change my mind. Now im not saying that's what youre trying to do, but you do seem to put a lot of effort into it.
@definteNZ Prejudice? Don't be stupid. I produced a multi-million dollar acoustic blues fest for JH, I spent more than three decades thinking he was it, his own father told him he didn't have it. I played with the black legends from MS and brother he ain't got it. I have told him I challange him to a headcuttin' contest and he wants nothing to do with it, bring the cameras. If you've seen one hammond show you've seen them all only it gets worse! You pay him. Real blues is on 78's only. UH20blues
@eurekajones1 You produced nothin' and talk out your ass! Got your language from the movie 'Crossroads' I can dig it, but you have never set foot on stage with a real bluesman or bluewoman!
Imo the blues is a feeling any human can express. mad love and respect to the delta muso's of old who not only created the blues but basically the blueprint of most of the music since...but to me it was the raw honesty and emotion the music invokes that makes it truly special, not the fact that they were black and from the american south. its universality is its appeal
@eurekajones1 I can't help but think its a classic case of prejudice - hes white and not poor so hes condemned (by you) from the get go. You opened for him? thats pretty cool, do you have videos of your performance we can check out?
I disagree with you Eurekajones , the blues aint about mimicking the original artist note for note and lick for lick - Hammond performs with passion and raw honesty and for that it gets my thumbs up
For 50 years hammond has been playing Johnson's music wrong. Listen to a Johnson cut then try to listen to Hammond. Johnson rules the blues even dead!!
A true master of the slide blues! Saw him in the Chieftain Bar, Monaghan, Ireland, September 1994. he was followed on stage by Jeff Lang. I realised then, as I still do today, that was one very special gig indeed, and I was indeed fortunate to be there! Jeff did a knock out blues lead guitar piece on Bob Dylan's The Ballad of Hollis Brown that send me chills to this day thinking about it. Thank You John Hammond, long may you run! You are an inspiration!
eurekajones1 doesn`t have the blues, he has "The Bitches"..lol
