@dgobrien Steve Carrell left because he personally felt that he couldn't develop his character any further. Plus he wanted to move on into acting in movies. If you think about the first reason though, he's probably right. If it was season 17 of The Office and you still had Michael Scott doing the same old shit he normally does, you'd probably would have wanted his character to leave. Steve Carrell decided to leave while we had a good version of Michael Scott in our minds.
