  • the first 15 minutes is the best i`ve see in a movie for a long time...nothing but brilliant ...Marlon Brando and Paul Ford at their very best

  • Love the movie ...... too old to be offended :-) My wife and I grew up on Okinawa - military brats and both part Oki. Go Kubasaki Dragons .... Sunsets on Okinawa .... beautiful ..... socks up ...

  • marlon brandon?

  • what are okinawans if they arenoy japanese?

  • Aha.....Aw I love it when his jap accent slips from time to time and he goes back to his Brando accent. Haha cute!

  • Lived on Okinawa 3 yrs. Excellent movie. The Okinawan people are in control thru the movie. Althought they speak more Japanese than Okinawan Dialect (Hogan). Still plenty of Okinawan people around who remember WWII. Okinawan are really not Japanese.

  • my mom is okinawan, my dad loves this movie LOL i plan to order this to watch

  • Brilliant movie and the cast brilliant,i really love the opening scen, with Brando and the Col purdy....it has Brando`s mark stamped on this.............

  • When I first opened this I started skipping along, trying to find where Marlon Brando showed up.

  • 100% believable until he stands up. He's just enormous.

  • The first time I saw this movie was when I was on the island of Okinawa! Sorry to say, there are locks on the doors now (except on some of the smallest islands) and no more coed bathhouses.

  • LOL

  • Damn Brando was a great actor. I was just reading his Bio. He stated that he and Ford really fucked this movie up. His standards were really high.

  • @cutandpaste1 Someone's raging. I don't really care to get into this, so I'm done with you. Anyone else that wants info on the play, if you ask me specific questions, I'll do my best to answer, and hopefully in a more timely manner. Good luck to you guys!

  • @cutandpaste1 lol.

  • @cutandpaste1 Eh. No thanks.

  • i like it thanks toglenn fords merciful greata cting saveing the show marlon brando was very bad in this part but better than expected. glenn ford was a liveing legend: } greata cting and realistic potrayels of the common man at thier best . great movie ty for posting

  • I am doing this play at my school.....any tips....just comment

  • Isn't it Glenn Ford, not Paul Ford?

Anyway -- it's a great film, thanks for uploading this. :)

  • @detectmendacity Paul Ford Played the Colonel and Glen Ford played the Major that went to Tobiki.. As well .they were not related to one another

Both actors were a true delight in this film!

  • @ignatzRat Oh! I didn't realize that. Thanks for correcting me. :)

  • @detectmendacity Not a prob... It is a grand old film.. ! Take care

  • Anyone know the name of the song right at the beginning?

  • Marlon brando as a japanese peasant? these 50's folks make me laugh... though he is actually not bad in this, for a change.

  • Hi!

I´m looking for the german version. Also the english version w/ subtitles would be okay. Can anyone help me please?

  • just loved it brando and actor who played the col.first class

  • Saw this for the first time at Tachikawa air base Japan at the west side theater.

  • @yokota69 I was at Yokota in 1959-1961. Did you ever get downtown to Tachikawa? Takes me back!

  • "Oh, good morning, boss. You sure surprised me, boss."

I love Brando's goofiness in this one. :)

  • i cant believe thats marlon brando lol

  • I did a high school play version of this movie, and I loved it. Btw, if you're upset about the culture portrayed, then consider it a work of fantasy, or fictional comedy. Don't take yourself so seriously. Live, laugh, love.

  • @LadyKaya9 could you give me some info on the play...im doing it next year at my school

  • @Beatlesgirl74 I realize this might be a little late, and I'm sorry for that. The best thing about this play was how funny it was, so don't be afraid to laugh it up! When we did the scene with Lotus Blossom teaching the girls to dance, we had my little brother come on the stage and pretend to make fun of the girls dancing. It made it so much funnier for the people in the audience. Also, take video, you won't want to forget! Oh, and flowery robes work well for kimonos, if you're running low.

  • @LadyKaya9 Thank you a lot :]

We are doing the play in two weeks! *fingers crossed*

  • @Beatlesgirl74 Break a leg!!

  • Timeless , brilliant comedy, wish there was more like this today.

  • This film is HORRIBLE. I'm Okinawan and the culture is just so inaccurate. There are no Geishas in Japan, that's all mainland stuff. The dancing in the house is all inaccurate! UGH This movie just makes me mad. only the ignorant will like this film

  • If you read the book you'd know that the geisha's were refugee's from Tokyo. They weren't originally from Okinawa. Can't say about the dancing though, I'll have to trust you on that. The book was quite pro-Japanese, which for the early '50's was unusual. It was trying to make a point about occupations of any county.

  • Sorry, my mistake, I meant to put Okinawa instead of Japan

  • They will not know what i protest for if not

send expert in war studies to interview

    their children SECRETLY !

America not aware that the children had been

    BRAINWASHING successfully ,

Don't even understand Pearl Harbor !

    I must alliance w/you ,I must keep PROTESTING !!

the WW3 is coming if they ignore the history fact !

  • I Have the German Version ;-)

  • socks fall down, boss...excellent thanks for posting

  • PLEASE MORE MACHIKO, less Brando

  • A fine movie. If someone has any Captain Fisbee clips, I'd appreciate them. Especially where he first meets Col Purdy.

    Regards,

    Kevin
