The Sony HX9V is better to take videos than Canon 230 SX.

The Canon .MOV format, a nightmare! Only the Adobe Premiere CS5 can works with the videos without a previous format conversion.

About the custom firmware and longer life batteries, no idea, I´m sorry.

Hello DaAnthoVid and thanks for your coment! To get the Effect, use the Miniature Efect, who works with the "Time lap" Mode,

The colours? :-) Without any effect, only the light and the colors of the scene and the moment, so simple. I recomenmed you this camera: 14x zoom with Optical IS and High aperture and ISO. But have a several serious problems: You can record in any Video mode only 15 minutes max. The batery go fast!

@raulglez : I want to buy a new camera this Christmas. I've been searching for hundreds of compact cameras, and this one has the best pictures quality in the world. It's much better than the the SONY hx9v. My only problem is that it records video in mov. format.. The format I hate the most in the world... Some people say that installing a custom firmware could solve the problem, but I haven't found anything on the net yet. About the battery, maybe some batteries with a longer life are available?

This is an amazing time lapse! I'm looking at getting a Cannon Sx 230 myself. The colors are so vivid! I'm curious, how did you get the fuzzy look around the boarders of the video?? It looks very nice!
