When people say Hindemith is unemotional, I think of this movement.
I don't get into fights about it, though, because I need to keep it safe. It must stay in my heart, invisible, forever concealed among the central movements of one of the least-heard chamber works of an ultra-prolific chamber composer. It must never play on the radio or appear on European TV. It must always be hard to discover. It can never be used to compete (that's anyway impossible, of course).

Yeah, this movement is pretty cool. And it's got lots of emotion too!

Stuff like that.

Hindemith un-emotional? And what about the same thought of Gould?
Mm.

@aculturemind I wasn't clear; I meant I think of this movement as a counterexample to the stereotype that Hindemith wasn't emotional.
But yeah, Gould has the same sort of thing going.
