Indeed it is astounding what one may see in a late Turner painting from a distance of 50'; one may even see an actual depictoral event explained of his senisential sightedness rather than art wank .
@DaemonPanda This clip is from an hour-long video Lee & Herring made, that bit is a cutaway continuing on from an earlier part of the show. Makes sense when you watch the video as a whole but in this clip it's obviously entirely out of context.
I love Stewart lee but this isn't my favorite bit of his. It is a great work of dissection to bring the characters of a postcard to life the way he did, and he is in control the entire time, this just wasn't as punchy as "All Things bright and Beautiful" or some of his other great longer bits.
@chrisjoneschrisjones Tell you what. You let us watch our comedy videos, without putting across your incredibly well structured, intelligent and reasonable argument, that in no way proves more about your own intelligence (or lack thereof) than whether Stewart Lee is funny or not; and kindly fuck off back to your Michael McIntyre and Frankie Boyle videos, k?
@xSODxDeMoNiaC oh la di da,we do think a lot of ourseleves dont we,why dont you go back to your Guardian reading ,humus dipping, organic sofa sitting self satisfied existence and stop trying to insult anyone who has a different view to yours
@chrisjoneschrisjones Excuse me? Isn't that what you did in your original comment? For the record, I hate humous. I bet you read the Daily mail, don't you? Go on, admit it.
@chrisjoneschrisjones I'd also like to pint out that I can't afford organic food, nor do i believe that it is necessarily any better than 'normal' food.
Why do you assume I think a lot of myself? is it because I can construct a legible sentence? Or is it because I use long words?
@xSODxDeMoNiaC Yes for all those reasons, good grammar and literacy are always a sign of a superior, cleverer and all round more amazing human being (and of course one who is always right and should therefore try to talk down to anyone that doesn't share their views)
Indeed i sometimes read the Daily Mail-mostly when im bored on a train and it's been left behind by other travellers. Otherwise i like to read a variety of publications but if it makes you feel better stick with the Daily Mail 'dig'
@chrisjoneschrisjones You seem to be making an awfully big fuss over the fact that I am 'talking down to you'.
Despite the fact that you were the one who posted inflammatory comments, unfairly stereotyping both Stewart Lee's comedy as well as the people who enjoy it; and now you're wound up because I responded in kind?
And my point about the DM wasn't a 'dig' based on the paper itself, it was me making assumptions about you in the same way in which you did for me in you first reply to me.

Gotta love when people attack something they don't like by saying something like 'oh, he's merely the pied-piper of the pseudo-intellectuals lololol' as if saying that then gives you the high ground? Why can't he just be the pied-piper of people who enjoy comedians with perfect timing, deadpan wit and a very knowing sense of irony? And actually, I think Michael Macintyre is also funny because I'm not a total snobby cunt who can't appreciate humuor on more than one level.

this is terrible I thought he was building all those terrible little jokes into a funny one at the end but there never was a big joke just a bunch of little ones... very bad comedian. I'd rather hear one 10 second joke thats actually funny then 7 minutes about a picture.... Just look at Steven Wright
Trev, have you actually bothered to extend your reserch on stewart lee to more than 6 minites of your life before coming to a conclusion that he is a 'bad comedian' i beg you to watch the Big Brother Scandal sketch, tell me thats not funny
The best thing about Stewart Lee's stand up is the silences. You need so much confidence in your material to have those long pauses and that much of a drawn out delivery.
@samsonlovesyou This is on a par with the Franklin Ajay stuff. It's just one thing he's seen that he can read so much into. If you go back and watch his old stuff from FoF and TMWRNJ he can pick out so much from so little

fairly weak for stewart lee, a little bit predictable. it seems out of character for him to use swearing for some cheap laughs. given, the audience wasn't very responsive and one of his strengths as a comedian is including the audience, which is why he works better in smaller, more personal venues.
To be fair, in some of his more recent stuff he does acknowledge that humour often comes from the most basic of thing, such as his bit about how nothing is funnier than a fart, although I do agree in general that simply using swearing to get a laugh is kind of cheap.
I think they have both said that this show wasn't very good and the audience was not responsive, but it's a bit I hadn't seen uploaded yet so I thought I'd upload it myself.
As I said in the description, this is a clip taken from an hour long Lee & Herring video. That bit is a continuation of another segment, it makes sense in context. I didn't really have the means to edit it out when I uploaded this.
