I've never forgotten this tournament! Bo was locked in and loaded! Though it does look like a sweet shot was laid down in a oil pattern for the pros to hit.
Man... Bo was in dead stroke on that day. That Black Hammer was quite the ball back then... and I remember those "star balls" like in the photo Pete bowling as a child as well. We all used to put just our fingers in the Star ball, no thumb, and hook the lane as if we knew how to do that :)
I remember not only this tournament, but also the articles written about Bo following it. In one article, it had Bo talk about lining up his shot using 1/4 boards. Not a board, not 1/2 board - he was aiming at a mark that was just a few centimeters wide. Most people at the time thought Bo was full of crap. But even today, I haven't heard anyone speak of aiming at a mark so small.
I loved this show as a kid and Nelson Burton Junior I hadnt seen win too many times, seeing how late this was I didnt even know he won a title in the mid 80's but I see this was indeed his 17th and last! What a way to win his finale winning 4 games and setting a record!
geez he shot 814 for is first 3 games
