I think every time an airplane lands there, the passengers should go up and congradulate the pilots on their way out. I mean, it is a VERY hard approach to make. And yes, I know I spelt congradulate wrong
@pilot7893 It's not a very hard approach. Straight line right to the beginning of the runway, nothing in your way, excellent weather most of the time. Ist is actually a pretty easy approach. Try Tegucigalpa in Honduras or Lukla in Nepal or Saint Barts in the Caribbean for a hard approach. Sint Maarten just looks spectular because of the beach and the road just in front of the runway, but a pilot doesn't give a shit what's in front of a runway as long as it is not high.
Its twice as worse when there are 100 cars and people watching you land..... lots of pressure..... Cudos to the pilot.

Yes it is a very hard approach to do, I have done it a few times with a 747. It's very challenging and exiting.

@pilot7893 I think that's why they keep the cockpitdoor locked.

@pilot7893 It's not a hard approach, the take off is difficult. It's like any other approach, except the airport is surrounded by sea - not land. :/
