@zszs100 The A350 is derivative replacement aircraft without engine + airlines are canceling cuz RR Trent Engine that is stretched beyond its abilities with 97,000lbs of thrust not enough which leaves it underpowered. Airbus tried to buy GE-C90 + Boeings GE Exclusivity contract bars that. The A350 up the creek without a engine. Boeing + GE got together with exclusive on all Boeing planes. Airbus is allowed to by older jet engine. Boeing paid GE 2 Billion USD to develop GE-C90 + GEnex engines.
@LottoWinner999 I think ur comment is not persuasive at all. All planes had problems before. A380 is new so the engine had a problem, buit it is fixed now! The 777 had an engine problem before as well. The 737 had lots of problems. The wing cracked cuz it was hit by debrise so that doesn't prove the poor worksman ship. Plus, airbus DID NOT build A380 for revenge. ITS ALL ABOUT THE MONEY!!!!!!!! A380 is no doubt the one of the most advanced plane flying today!
@zszs100 Your cracked and the only problem the 777 had was the cheaply RR Trent Engine in essence the Boeing 777 is the perfect plane that they call the Airbus Killer. The A380 White Elephant in ten years only has 63 in service and Airbus can only built two per month and must sell and build 500 to break even and the A380 is 18 billion Euros in debt. Do the math the A380 aka the Toulouse Goose is rotten egg that will have to be canceled or Airbus will go Bankrupt!
@LottoWinner999 You must seriously hate the A380. The A380 entered service in 2006. 2012 is 10 tens after 2006? lol. there are 60+ a380s out there today, not really a small number. Look at the a380 orders, especially Emirates. There are hundreds of orders. Why do u care so much about airbus and boeing anyway? Just enjoy the plane! :D
@zszs100 There are 1400 hundred 747s in service and in six years Airbus has built a mere 63 and they can only build 2 per-month. Airbus must build 500 to break even and at 2-per-month there not going to make it until 2025. The A380 is 18 Billion Euros in debt and I am telling your there will cancel the A380 in years or so!
@eliskander I like both the A380 and the 747-800. I also love the 777, 787, and the on coming a350. If you truly love airplanes then you shouldn't be debating over 747-8 and a380 cuz their both great airplanes and cool in their own way! :D
@zszs100 A380 is a dangerous plane between RR outdated Trent exploding engines and the cracked wings, poor workmanship claimed by emirates the A380 is ready for the White Elephants Boneyard. A380 will not break even and Airbus is waiting for the opportunity to cancel it. The losers on this airplane are Quantas,Singapore and more cuz when they cancel A380 its engines + parts will be scarce+ expensive. The A380 was built out of revenge on USA + Boeing + those are bad reasons to build an airplane.
I would be extremely happy if Qantas actually got the B747-8 for real, but the worst thing is... The new A380s they have are replacing their B747s, that is a tearjerker for me.... The B747 had a long and successful history, and it's still getting better. At least keep the B747s they have, and get rid of the A330s, they aren't that... you know.
@RZ3296 Here's some good news for you then. Qantas are re-fitting some of their 747-400s with A380 style interiors and keeping them on some routes for the next 5-6years.
@747qantas Hello I got a question. I am unsure if my 747 is realistic. How much thrust does PMDG 747 use when cruising 495knots at 35000ft? My 747 uses 88% thrust at full fuel.
@zszs100 Hmmm 490kts is way too fast. Not sure how you're even getting those airspeeds at full fuel. To answer your question, let me jump in the sim set up a flight and i'll let you know. It'll take me an hour, but stand by :) I'm curious now too.... THX for asking me.
@zszs100 Thx for checking it out for me! I know PMDG is realistic so i want to check. :D 495 knots is not way too fast on a clear/claim day. 490-495knots is 747's normal cruise speed at 35000ft.
@zszs100 OK, here is what I got... KLAX to YMML RWY24R. Fuel is 385,000lbs GW is 900,000lbs. Cost Index I used 50, leaves me with 12,000lbs at YMML - that's about right. FMC wants me to CRZ at FL340 but climbing to 35000 just to see. Takeoff was flaps 20 using the perch departure.Currently, crusing at FL340. QNH is 29.97. HDG 225. We usually cruise at mach.85 as per FMC calculations. At this altitiude that's 300KTS. The GS (Ground Speed) is 473.
@zszs100 on the speed tape, we have a 50kt buffer. Overspeed is about 335 and stick shaker is about 285. Will advise when I can step to FL350. Gotta burn off some fuel.....
@Johnny800s You never know. Air China and Korean Air have joined Lufthansa in thinking that there's lots of life in our reborn Queen of the sky. Seems 2011 is gonna be a gd hunting yr for Boeing. Watch out for the Farnborough or Paris show. Don't be surprised if you find Qantas among others freshly painted onto the side of the 747-8i.
@trent8002003, omg... yes someone who was thinking the same as me, unlike sooo many other idiots on youtube and in this world, OF COURSE QANTAS WILL EVENTUALLY BY ONE OF THESE PLANES. And one other thing, one of the biggest misconceptions is that even though it may have "Qantas" painted on it, they still will say it's a "Boeing". It's only a "Boeing" if it's got the boeing logo on it and says boeing on it. I know boeing was the the one that "INVENTED" the plane, but when the plane...
@trent8002003, gets leached to other airliners, and they put their logo on one of these planes, well that's it then, then it's not a boeing. Now i'm not trying to say that boeing doesn't have their own 747-800's but other airliners also have done deals with boeing to each have a few of these planes for themselves and put their own logo's on them. So when "Qantas" finally does the deal and buys many of these beauties to claim for their own, they will paint their logo on it and
@trent8002003, it will be a "Qantas" 747-800 not a "Boeing" 747-800, you see it's all about the logo that's painted on the side of the plane that changes the first word or words, so for instance lets say that, Qantas, Cathay Pacific, Emirates, and Boeing all have quite a few of these 747-800's, the one with "Qantas on it, is a "Qantas 747-800" the one with "Cathay Pacific painted on it is called a "Cathay Pacific 747-800, and "Emirates" will be "Emirates 747-800" and then we have Boeing 747-800.
thumbs up if Qantas and other airline companies should invest money in 747-800 then A380-800. A380 is good plane too but it just doesn't stand a chance against the Epic sky queen B747
@vfrl7r I agree. The 747-8 is way more comfortable, has way better first class suites, amazing interior lighting, etc. The only thing the A380 has against it is the size, which is actually a bad thing because airports have to make major modifications for it to be able to go there. So basically, the A380 is just a big useless, ugly plane.
Airbus comes out with the A380. Boeing makes there 747 bigger. Then Airbus will make an A390. Boeing will make a 747-900. The Airbus A395 Boeing makes an 747-1000. The Airbus creates a peice of shit. Boeing makes an UFO. Lol. Boeing FTW!
this should be in new livery. the one with big titles. also their singapore airlines livery need some tweaks with their big titles. I wanna shoot the guy who made these liveries for not paying attention to the placement of details.
Thanks much, I already have the 747-400 by PMDG so I actually wanted the 747-8 PMDG model. Checked their website and realized that they only have if for FSX. Appreciate your reply nonetheless.
hi i was wondering if you can tell me how did you get this add on, i now that is from pmdg but i want to know if they delivered to your house or if you go to somewhere to buy it thankyou btw exellent video!
Hi,Thanks for your comment. I just went to the PMDG website and got it there. It was $24.95 USD. Just downloaded it. You gotta have the PMDG 747-400 first though. Good Luck!
*Note: This product is a visual model extension that uses the underlying PMDG 747-400X simulation for the flight, cockpit and systems models. This product is not intended to simulate the difference in flight characteristics between the 747-400 and the 747-8. This product allows the user to add a high fidelity visual model of the 747-8 to their Flight Simulator X experience.
So, for everyone wondering, it's just a visual modification. The plane's system and performance are the same.
Thanks. I can't wait to see what they'll come out with next. My vote is Concorde. Wouldn't mind a good DC-9 to compliment the MD-11. Actually, what would be really cool would be to make the 747-100, 200, 300 and SP. I wouldn't care if i was based on the 747-400 cockpit, I'd just like to see 'em
Yes, as far as I can tell, it's the same. I was most interested in the external,so I really didn't do much up there on the Flight Deck other than fly the airplane and get back outside. All the figures seemed about the same to me. (Landed at 156 kts with flaps 30 ect.)
I think you the first person that uploaded a vid with the 748 :-D amazing aircraft would like to see it for FS2004 too :-/ as most of people flying dont have the specs to run FSX + this aircraft :-/ well done mate
@Johnny800s ITS definitly not a wast of time making 747-8 in qantas livery because its one of the prettiest liveries that goes on the 747-800.

Thanks for your comment. As far as I know, this is only for FSX and can only be loaded on top of the 747-400. That's what I did at least.

Did anyone notice that this seems to be a"hybrid" Qantas scheme? New tail logo, old Qantas title. This is the livery PMDG have on their site.
