I love this movie, everybody can think that moving inside the sound is the most easy thing ever done, but it requieres great soul and to reach a great soul, you must suffer. There is no other way now, but one day we will all arive till the great enlightment, because music is the universal meaning of unconditional love, music is the silence of God.
David played Rachmaninov, Chopin and Liszt at the Hamer Hall in Melbourne a few months ago. He has another concert scheduled for the end of 2008. It was fabulous and well worth attending.
Brilliant movie, but the story is only 30% true. His father was nothing like that. His family says that the film was based entirely on what his wife told the writers. David was showing signs of mental illness long before he went to London.
Well, I listened that the sister told that the father sometimes hited David until leaving him without concience. So if this is true, the movie shows less than what it really happened.
no only his sister claims he wasnt like that. the rest of the family does. his sisters and brother all say he hit them. the movie also tells you he was showing signs of mental illness as young as the fist scene.
Beautiful. Simply beautiful. I first saw the movie as a kid, and up to this day, "Shine" is one of few movies who can make me shed tears of joy, pain and wonder at the same time.
google him, he had mental illness problems before he even went to england, the film just portrays that the sheer difficulty of this piece drove him crazy
master piece !

What really scares me is that I'm a musician like him... and when I saw this movie I said... "am I going to be like him???"
After that I saw A Beautiful Mind... and it scared me because I'm a matematician too...
