@fisteberg Remember, the show was inspired by the books.Some things ML stuck with that were true, and some he didn't.It's what most people in Hollywood do. In order for a series to keep going successfully, you must keep it interesting.The show was really popular, and he gave young actors/actresses a chance to grow more in the industry to be on here like other shows do. And it worked. Jason Bateman, Missy Francis, Shannen Doherty, Allison Balson all went on to have successful careers.

These Happy Golden Years is my favourite out of all the books. It's in the First Four Years she calls Almanzo Manly. She barely calls Almanzo anything in the books in their conversations.

don't know about the series, but the real Almanzo was a homesteader from the age of 16, when the agent asked him his age for records, he just said, "put down 18", which happened quite a bit I think back then. He and his brother Royal came out to DeSmet almost as soom as the Ingalls.. when they married he had two claims.
