Since you have to set both ps3's to send and receive, does this mean they both need to be plugged in to the t.v at the same time? What if you only have one hdmi input port?

@MrHu58 It's sort of like an OS on a PC (Operating System) There are versions associated with these firmwares. You can find it by going to 'System information' in your XBM. It is irrelevant what your firmware version is now because if you have internet, you most likely have an up to date version. All versions from like a year ago to date have 'Data Transfer Utility' If you have CF (Custom Firmware)... First of all, why would you?... and 2nd, don't transfer unless you want two crippled PS3s. Respond to this video... the way i did it was i was loged in with my old ps3 and the new ps3 was powered up on my other tv. once sink of trophies r done and addon content dissable you set your old ps3 to send and your new ps3 to receive. if there is any probs about the data transfer u will find out. data transfer utility its called, make sure ethernet is hooked up while both ps3s r off, set old ps3 to send and on the other tv set your new to receive.

i just did it this morning, 110gb worth. 4 fucking hours later it finished transferring. The really funny thing is that i didn't lose ANY data on the 3 accounts i had transferred to my new 320gb ps3. i thought my old ps3 (120gb) would be formatted.!?
The reason i up dated is because my 120gb ps3 wouldn't turn off once warmed up and crazy stuff like that. To turn the ps3 off i would have to kill the power to it. For 6 months it was like that. Think about it, killing power after format,, answer??

Hey guys, I have a serious problem. I have all my game data for gt5 on user 1 but I no longer can log into my psnetwork cause my email no longer works and i forgot my password. I wanted to see if I could copy my game data and put it on user 2 and just make a new psnetwork account but it says I cant use game data that is stored under another user. Is it possible to save the game data on a flash drive then erase all data under user 1 and then start over? I have no clue what to do! please help!
how do you know what it couts as ps3-1 and ps3-2? also does it copy all your saved data? and should you put your account on the other ps3 before or after you have transferd the data?

hey guys i need help iam desperate iam trying to do this between my fat80gb and the new slim 320gb and i did the steps by the book, turning off connecting, turning on, setting the source ps3 but then i get a messege of " ethernet cable not connected or other ps3 not turned on, i dont what is going on i even used 3 differrent cables and still the messege shows help!!!!!
I tried tranfering my data from my 80 gig to my 320 gig slim using the ethernet cord and the data tranfer option. I went through it dozens of times and carefully read everything and did everything you did but it just kept telling me that it didn't read the other ps3. As if they weren't connected through the ethernet cord. I triple checked everything. Can't figure out the problem.
@xdatlantico244 It should say something along the lines of... 'Copying of this save file is prohibited' < That's if you can copy. I had that with AC2 and I thought I might loose my data but after looking at the details of the new firmware (when it was new) I saw that I could even transfer copy prohibited data so I was psyched. The point, you can copy pretty much everything down to the finest detail. I don't have demon souls but I would imagine it would be no different.
@ThibautVDP If the system can't start or access the xmb, it can't do this. I have opened up my ps3 many times to clean in and I can tell you that breaking the motherboard is a task bro, you have to remove many components to get to it, how does one 'break' their motherboard? Fucked motherboard = SOL

@MisterSinnister Yep, the proof is that he's playing Assassin's Creed II, which uses a copy-protected save file. You can see he can successfully play load up the save file on the new system, hence copy-protected saves can be transferred :D

okay, i want to do this feature, but i believe i have a problem. on my fat PS3, i have two PSN accounts. one is mine and the other belongs to someone i can't contact. i can obviously deactivate my account but can't do the same for the other one. will this affect the transfer and playability of my stuff when it gets to the slim PS3 or will it only affect the stuff on the other account?
Does the transfer also transfer over account sign in ID, the password if saved and on autosign before the transfer will the password still be saved and autosign in after the transfer on the new ps3?
when i try this it tells me to deactivate users and stuff how do i do this and for some reason when i get past that i plug a ethernet cable into both of my ps3s they are both updated and ar turned off when i connect the eithernet cables but when i do it it says deactuivate users i don't no what that really means and for some reason my slim keeps poping up saying no eithernet cord is plugged in and when i try to do the tranfer my 40gb says that either the eithernet calbe is pluged in
@skidmetal20 All you need to do is go to each account and go to account info and go to game> deactivate and video> deactivate. As for the rest, I don't have an answer for you. It should work perfectly, plug ethernet to both ps3s and transfer... It should be that simple.
@UberCuba Yes. And that's a good question. I'm not too sure but it doesn't really matter anyways because it can be updated. I doubt it can transfer firmwares because the console has internal memory that is separate from the the HDD that is used for firmwares and the primary system data etc. I could be wrong but I think that's how it goes.
@darkdestroyer32 Cool, the reason I ask is because on 3.15 the HDD can be decrypted, so patches can be edited (hacks for MW2) and then transfered to the console with 3.30. =D
@proonehander You have to control both. Just have one ps3 on HDMI and one on AV. Switch between the signals to see each ps3 when necessary and control them with two different controllers. (You can technically just use one controller on both ps3s but that gets annoying switching it out ps3 to ps3.
My broken ps3 should last for the duration of the transfer hopefully lol.. An about how long does it take for it to transfer last I checked I had like 15-20 gb of memory left on my 60 gig.. @SolidNate84 You said your ps3 got ylod? If it did then you can't do the transfer because your ps3 can't start. If you already did it before it got ylod then your trophies should all be there once your accounts get transfered. Sign in on your slim and sync to the server on your slim and your trophies should show up. If you were unable to do the transfer because of the ylod, you can always download the FFXIII save data from gamefaqs and copy it back to your slim so you will have everything again.
@Aridi03 I am not responsible for user error. You are to blame for doing the transfer in the wrong order. I understand that you're mad but I gave you all more than enough information to do this. I've said many times that it was (old ps3 to new ps3... new ps3 gets formatted) <correct YOU did(new ps3 to old ps3... old ps3 gets formatted)<not correct ... I'm sorry that you lost your data but you can't blame me for that.

@hawnkblade Yes it will ask you that. Please remember not to format the wrong ps3. The phat ps3 (sending ps3) sends the data to the slim (receiving ps3) The receiving ps3 gets formatted. It will lose all data (if anything was on it) and get replaced with the data on the old phat ps3. All data will stay on the phat ps3 after the transfer, it will just be on the slim as well.
Sorry 2 more important questions that I would be really grateful if you could answer?
1. If something should go wrong with the transfer, does it format both systems or just the slim? Can I always fall back on my old PS3 if it doesn't work?
2. Do the trophys (not the one that show on your online PSN) but the the ones trophys that are shown in the same menu that Saved Data is in come with? Not just the Saved Data? Everything?
does it matter what GB you have on your ps3? Right now i have a 60GB model and i'm going to get a slim. And if I do everything right will it look like you wrote above to someone. "Once the transfer is done, it will look exactly the way it was on your old console."???
@Mell2006ll It doesn't matter. The only thing that matters is if the console your transferring to has a smaller HDD capacity. So yeah, a 60GB to a slim will be fine.
@Mafiaboss58 It doesn't save passwords or emails for auto sign in so you will need to reenter passwords and emails to sign in. It does transfer all accounts. It even saves bookmarks in the web browser. Lets put it this way, once the transfer is done, it will look exactly the way it was on your old console.
I don't have an answer for the error if you're doing it right (read comments, there are people with the same issue. I think someone found a solution.) and as far as I know, the software will not tell you that it's being done in the wrong order. If you do it in the wrong order, err, well if I did, I would flip a lid. lol

@347seeker You can't, at least not this way.... unless you have a friend with a ps3 that would let you put your your HDD in his console to do the transfer. Another way would be to just stick the HDD in the new console. I've never done that though so don't take my word for it. But yeah, they would have to bolth be phat ps3s in order to swap the HDD. Putting an older model HDD in the new slim and vise versa is impossible.

@MyThePooP You can still do it this way as long as you can get the ps3s together but if you think it would be better, you can get an external harddrive and copy stuff over. It wouldn't be as easy though and you won't get everything. You can use a flashdrive as well to get some stuff. I haven't done the external thing so I wouldn't know perfectly how to it. flashdrives work well if you can't do data transfer utility. You can copy some save data. Click triangle over data and copy to flashdrive.

@nervw yes being that the content has been downloaded not server based like trophies or prestige info(like C.O.D)all data should just simply be moved from one source to another.on another note how did you get "banned" from PSN just curious
@nervw If you can't sign into psn, you can't access your downloads if they need to be redownloaded. Once you do the transfer, you should still be able to play your content. No need to redownload. No promises. I didn't have to redownload anything so I think you won't have to either.

@MisterSinnister Yep, the proof is that he's playing Assassin's Creed II, which uses a copy-protected save file. You can see he can successfully play load up the save file on the new system, hence copy-protected saves can be transferred :D
I'm about to do this process myself, and also don't want to have to restart GT5...

okay, i want to do this feature, but i believe i have a problem. on my fat PS3, i have two PSN accounts. one is mine and the other belongs to someone i can't contact. i can obviously deactivate my account but can't do the same for the other one. will this affect the transfer and playability of my stuff when it gets to the slim PS3 or will it only affect the stuff on the other account?

And if you did use a ethernet cable does it matter what kind? there was one video that said don't use a crossover ethernet cable, does it matter?

Does the transfer also transfer over account sign in ID, the password if saved and on autosign before the transfer will the password still be saved and autosign in after the transfer on the new ps3?

when i try this it tells me to deactivate users and stuff how do i do this and for some reason when i get past that i plug a ethernet cable into both of my ps3s they are both updated and ar turned off when i connect the eithernet cables but when i do it it says deactuivate users i don't no what that really means and for some reason my slim keeps poping up saying no eithernet cord is plugged in and when i try to do the tranfer my 40gb says that either the eithernet calbe is pluged in

@skidmetal20 All you need to do is go to each account and go to account info and go to game> deactivate and video> deactivate. As for the rest, I don't have an answer for you. It should work perfectly, plug ethernet to both ps3s and transfer... It should be that simple.

@UberCuba Yes. And that's a good question. I'm not too sure but it doesn't really matter anyways because it can be updated. I doubt it can transfer firmwares because the console has internal memory that is separate from the the HDD that is used for firmwares and the primary system data etc. I could be wrong but I think that's how it goes.

@proonehander You have to control both. Just have one ps3 on HDMI and one on AV. Switch between the signals to see each ps3 when necessary and control them with two different controllers. (You can technically just use one controller on both ps3s but that gets annoying switching it out ps3 to ps3.

My broken ps3 should last for the duration of the transfer hopefully lol.. An about how long does it take for it to transfer last I checked I had like 15-20 gb of memory left on my 60 gig.. @SolidNate84 You said your ps3 got ylod? If it did then you can't do the transfer because your ps3 can't start. If you already did it before it got ylod then your trophies should all be there once your accounts get transfered. Sign in on your slim and sync to the server on your slim and your trophies should show up. If you were unable to do the transfer because of the ylod, you can always download the FFXIII save data from gamefaqs and copy it back to your slim so you will have everything again.

@hawnkblade Yes it will ask you that. Please remember not to format the wrong ps3. The phat ps3 (sending ps3) sends the data to the slim (receiving ps3) The receiving ps3 gets formatted. It will lose all data (if anything was on it) and get replaced with the data on the old phat ps3. All data will stay on the phat ps3 after the transfer, it will just be on the slim as well.

1. If something should go wrong with the transfer, does it format both systems or just the slim? Can I always fall back on my old PS3 if it doesn't work?
2. Do the trophys (not the one that show on your online PSN) but the the ones trophys that are shown in the same menu that Saved Data is in come with? Not just the Saved Data? Everything?

@Mell2006ll It doesn't matter. The only thing that matters is if the console your transferring to has a smaller HDD capacity. So yeah, a 60GB to a slim will be fine.

@Mafiaboss58 It doesn't save passwords or emails for auto sign in so you will need to reenter passwords and emails to sign in. It does transfer all accounts. It even saves bookmarks in the web browser. Lets put it this way, once the transfer is done, it will look exactly the way it was on your old console.

I don't have an answer for the error if you're doing it right (read comments, there are people with the same issue. I think someone found a solution.) and as far as I know, the software will not tell you that it's being done in the wrong order. @347seeker You can't, at least not this way.... unless you have a friend with a ps3 that would let you put your your HDD in his console to do the transfer. Another way would be to just stick the HDD in the new console. I've never done that though so don't take my word for it. But yeah, they would have to bolth be phat ps3s in order to swap the HDD. Putting an older model HDD in the new slim and vise versa is impossible.

@MyThePooP You can still do it this way as long as you can get the ps3s together but if you think it would be better, you can get an external harddrive and copy stuff over. It wouldn't be as easy though and you won't get everything. You can use a flashdrive as well to get some stuff. I haven't done the external thing so I wouldn't know perfectly how to it. flashdrives work well if you can't do data transfer utility. You can copy some save data. Click triangle over data and copy to flashdrive.

@nervw If you can't sign into psn, you can't access your downloads if they need to be redownloaded. Once you do the transfer, you should still be able to play your content. No need to redownload. No promises. I didn't have to redownload anything so I think you won't have to either.

I took my time and made sure I did everything right. If you don't like the way I did the video or something, you don't have to watch it.
