  • This band is something. Listening to it resembles somewhat a return home, that feeling of pure joy and chilling mood. Always get me. Having sex to Morphine is epic. Just sayin', you should fuckin' try it.

  • 2 people can t swim

  • @ito6722 and never will

  • Cool. So if Morpheus is the god of dreams, and Neo is a slave to the machines, then that makes sense why it was Morpheus who released him from The Matrix.

    I get it now.

  • every song of morphine ..is a trip around night ..woman and dark urban city

  • Matro, Matro! Somyal do shengia! Fo sho!

Yes right now We'll go by way of the garden fat with tomatoes and beans on the vine Sweet like the way it was like swimming for the very first time.

  • He definitely looks acquainted with morphine in the pic above. Doesn't matter either way because it's a class name for a band especially with the morpheus connection in the quote above. And surely people we've moved beyond moralising about bands and drugs? I thought the 60's had ended that!

  • @MrScoopy19 very well put.

  • Check out Dana and Jerome's current project, a partial Morphine-tribute band called "Members of Morphine & Jeremy Lyons" or "The Ever-Expanding Elastic Waste band."

  • did mark do drugs? i mean he was really thin to have a heart attack, thats for fat people

  • That photo is SO sexy.

  • so pissed to have heard this song in one of the new Guess commercials. What cause the almighty Sandman is 6 feet under you can go sell his music to anyone.... BOOOOOO.

  • @kidd13news It's not like guess is just anyone.

  • @poelimanjo ya they are a corporate retail company just trying to make money... Sandman is def rolling over in his grave.

  • @kidd13news Who cares? As a Morphine fan I say Good. Maybe it will make a few more Morphine fans. Anything that exposes people to this band is ok by me. I mean it's not like the music is going to become any less awesome because they used it in a commercial.

  • this song was just featured in an ad for Guess Seductive

  • the biggest coke head in the world introduced me to this band...thats really all i can give him credit for

  • @ukrainiaNManiak

he knew how to come back down.

  • Comment removed

  • @ukrainiaNManiak im suprised this is more for viccodin and pot heads, thats when i started listening to them, but it is good music to get fucked up to and just sit back a close your eyes to

  • I love this bands sound, but damn Mark Sandman's voice is mesmerizing!

  • goodbye Mark....

  • The coolest band ever.

  • ....un lujazo, Mr Sandman

  • When is the Sandman going to come out with some more music? If Tupac can do it, he should defi-fucking-nitely be able to do it.

  • i wish u were here to punch in mouth

  • I think the dud from sublime took that position.

  • supid

  • He does! Sandbox, At Your Service and The Night were all released after his death

  • google Morphine Sandbox

  • Buy Sandbox directly from HinDry, the indie record label founded by Mark Sandman. They have the best price, too.

  • I think this song might be about um... intercourse..... jk, great song, bumps pretty hard on subs surprisingly. Gotta be great when you roll the windows down at a light and people who are expecting it to be rap give you really confused looks...

  • haha i experienced the exact scenario mentioned above in MN the other week. fuckin fantastic

  • ...all the way downtown...

  • Morphine were truly unique, and there will never be something quite like them, i suppose

  • agreed

  • I love the song.....the sax is wonderful

  • this is........AMAZING!

  • j'adoreeeeeeee

  • Morphine forever

  • <3 Morphine till the sky ))

  • this is the ULTIMATE album ever!!!!!!!!1

  • Was Mark Sandman big into drugs? Idk, it just looks like someone snapped a photo of them after they woke up from a late night or something.

  • dude, he's in a band called MORPHINE

  • "The word 'Morphine' comes from the word 'Morpheus,' who is the god of dreams, and that kind appealed to us as a concept...I've heard there's a drug called 'morphine' but that's not where we're coming from...we were dreaming, Morpheus comes into our dreams...and we woke up and started this band...we're all wrapped up in these dream messages, and we were compelled to start this band." - Mark Sandman

    Source: Wikipedia

  • lmao... sorry to say "WIKIPEDIA" lol...

it may be true, but still wikipedia lmfao

  • how safe is any source really? It is all written by the survivors/conquerors.

  • @BlahKing101 Incredibly untimely; incredibly fine when y'all served it up. WE are still listening.

  • @BlahKing101 lol and you believe him? i'm a big sandman fan but in all honesty he probably was on some kind of hard drug, he died in his mid 40's and looks really unhealthy, i know he was stabbed in the chest when he was younger, which could be why he had a heart attack at a relatively young age, but that doesn't explain why he's so thin...

  • @cc9191 I don't especially care about whether or not the man was involved with drugs; a lot of the bands I've loved have used some form of chemical or other in search of musical inspiration. The man made great music regardless of whether or not he was an addict. Even if he was, I suppose that can't be helped by now.

  • @cc9191 I know the guys who were in Morphine. According to them, Mark smoked a lot of weed, a lot of cigarettes, drank a lot of coffee and very rarely slept. Never went to the doctor. That and a very sad personal history. They say from his symptoms the previous day it is likely this was not his first heart attack. Heart attacks happen to a lot of men in their 40s.

  • @BlahKing101

    and you really believe that?

wikipedia says that jesus christ is born 4 years before christ.

their music is great, but it's pretty dumb to actually think they didn't know about the drug and that they didn't do drugs.

  • @oknarbtal The historical character Jesus Christ (if such a being existed) WAS likely born a few years before or after the BC-AD division. The records are dubious however, so a general consensus is that 4 BC is the approximate date of his birth. It might seem silly to believe that Jesus was born four years 'Before Christ,' but the Anno Domine dating system wasn't even implemented until some 500 or so years after Jesus' death.

  • As for the band, I quite honestly don't care if drugs were part of their musical influence. Given that morphine has largely been displaced by heroin as a recreational drug, it's entirely possible that they didn't know too much about it. Even if they did, this doesn't imply that the drug is where the band name comes from, which is the topic which my quote concerns. Either way, the band made great music.

  • @BlahKing101

humor? does it ring a bell to you?

  • @oknarbtal They say that sarcasm doesn't float well over the internet.

  • @BlahKing101 actually he had an heart attack at 46 just because he used opiates ^^ and well... you could die, but it will be like swimming, luckily :)

  • @fullmetaljaco no he had a heart attack at 46 because he'd been stabbed in the heart in his 20s while working as a cab driver... but hey make stupid assumptions instead.

  • @BlahKing101 are you kidding? you know that a media ploy, right?

  • @KevinTheKennedy You know I don't give a shit, right? I've already explained that I don't care if they did drugs. I was just quoting Mark because I like the band and I like the quote. You're about the fifth person that's pointed this out.

  • @BlahKing101 One, Wikipedia is shit, not even useable as a source in higher education. Two, I love Mark and this just cracks me up "I've heard theres a drug called morphine" that was an aside to a reporter that lapped it up and wrote it down. Gives ya a good laugh doesn't it?

  • @Hermunkle One, I don't give a shit. Two, I don't give a shit. I saw the quote two years ago and I figured, hey, why not post it on the video? I've been getting "no ur wrong hurr durr" comments ever since.

And Wikipedia's not terrible, really. It's only the general knowledge articles that might be a bit dubious. If you're looking for the effects of telomerase on cellular senescence, it's not a bad starting point. If you want to read about the Westboro Baptist Church, not so much.

  • @BlahKing101 Much respect put a huge smile on my face hopefully we can all think of a certain swimmer when we hear the name Phelps

  • So sad. Got to see these guys ohio like 15 years ago

  • What a band :O

    What is this music?

  • Sandman used to refer to this style as "low rock"

  • Rest in peace for sure. I love how burnt out he looks. Kinda sad.. But i guess thats who he chose to be.. Never the less he was a revolutionary musician.

  • rest in peace mark

  • Morphine - there'll never be another!

  • how come most ppl think this album is a stinker? it's not!

  • ive got them all this one is my least favorite. it bums me out when i listen to it for some reason

  • Yeah, I could never figure that one out myself. I love this album.

  • This one and "The Night" are my favourite Morphine Albums.

  • @dude25875

I had never heard of Morphine until 2006 or so, this was the first album I heard and I thought it was one of the most amazing things I had ever heard.

  • @dude25875 Probably their best album.

  • @dude25875 WHO thinks that? Dumbasses that's who. The album is brilliant. This band never put out a less than stellar album. There are a lot of kick ass songs on Like Swimming (Potion, Early To Bed, Murder For The Money, Swing It Low, Like Swimming.....shit.....all of them). Most bands would be happy to call this their BEST album. If this is Morphine's worst album, that just says that their musical standards are an order of magnitude higher than 99% of all other bands.

  • @SCROGY Fuck yeah, bro!I didn't even need to see buddy's comment to feel that shit.People have their heads way too far up their own arse.Everything(sadly, sometimes)has its place in our shitty world. That's why it's a little shitty.Half full?......take care.

  • i listen to this constantly
