  • Prop 8 passed!

  • Why does the government recognize marriage in the first place?

Makes Prop 8 look like an exercise in futility...

But yeah, you may want to try to look a little more presentable when you're attempting to make a serous video such as this. Coupled with your tendency to get enraged with comments at the drop of a hat; your argument suffers greatly.

    San Diego FTW!!

  • ninjazoner - you're lame

  • Dont have to look like a model, just try look presentable for the camera. You just look like some angry kid in a room that's been picked on. You refuse to beautify yourself because of society. Maybe it ;s really because you feel you can't look that way. Man, those highschool kids must have picked on for days. On you tube u can feel like somebody, but your still the geek kid in glass with low self esteem. Sad really

  • i'm "sad"? i'm not re the 32-year-old watching cartoons on youtube and trying to make a perfectly comfortable-in-her-own-skin woman feel somehow worthless with empty, inane words.

do you understand that your pseudo-psychological ramblings are meaningless and off-base? do you understand how sad your life is that you actually concern yourself with what immature high school kids think of anything? do you understand what a failure you are in god's eyes?

  • man, u look so old. fix yourself up before u go before the camera. Have some self respect. Oh, Jesus.

  • seriously? you watch a video about my political views and all you can say is that i "look so old" and should "fix myself up"?

once again, i REFUSE to constrain myself to yours or society's standards of beauty. i'm supposed to come home from 12 hours of classes and 4 hours of activism and look like a fucking pinup model?

STOP BLAMING YOUR SEXISM ON JESUS!!! you give an even worse name to a religion that doesn't need even an ounce more of bad press.

  • Very well put and true.

  • Great video, dear. Thanks for doing your part to help people in this election. Even though we were set back, this is only a set back. We will prevail.

  • erase the hate NO ON 8

  • I really appreciated the voter guide being shown and hearing the actual words to the proposition. I live in Seattle, WA. (also: blushing shyly, nice cleavage).

  • Please allow video responses.

  • Thank you!

  • I think it's important to know that Prop 8 is really only that 1 sentence long. It has nothing to do with all of the random arguments people use to turn people against it, nothing to do with schools, nothing to do with kids.

    Cool video! =)

  • Thanks baby! I love you. ^_^

  • People who are blessed to have a degree of the spirit of prophecy can easily see what the ramifications of redefining marriage will do to our society. An adult should full well know the great latitude of possibilities that exists whenever a diverse culture like America is open to interpret laws as they wish. Prop 8 narrows the possibility down to a SAFE level for the entire country, albeit at the expense of those who want to abuse the system.

  • Just as well, a society that restricts freedom and is intolerant will only create a divided and opposing society. An adult should full well know the great latitude of possibilities that exists whenever a diverse culture like America is open to being unfair to one group, but not another.

A string restricts a kite from flying off to freedom and eminent destruction. Restrictions do have a very good purpose at times. The civil rights of a few, when compared to the collective body of a particular nation, often times must be sacrificed because the principles predicating the collective body will preserve that nation.

  • Yeah and how is letting gay people get married undermining the nation? How is letting gay people get married, letting our country fly off into eminent destruction? There is nothing to show that will happen aside from your own paranoia. There is nothing to show that it has any negative effect at all, so your argument is baseless. The bottom line, inequality is what we all should be fighting against. Maybe next time they will come for your rights...

  • Gay people can do whatever the hell they want. But I don't think it's right for MY government (which I assume is YOUR'S too) redefining my religious beliefs for me, unless the principles used are based on truth.

I am willing to consider, but no homosexual supporter has yet presented a reasonable case based on correct principles that explain why homosexuals qualify for the heterosexual institution of marriage. That failure is a pretty convincing argument to hold the position I have.

  • What if someone interprets the bible in their own way (just like you do) and then the government amends the constitution to say that they cannot see the bible the way they see it, the have to see it the way the other people see it. That's just wrong, bottom line. It's actually the same argument you are making!! If you believe in religious freedom you can't restrict someone elses freedom just because you don't agree with it.

  • "Gay people can do whatever the hell they want."

    Except get married.

"Unless the principles used are based on truth."

Who's truth? Your beliefs or someone elses?

"I am willing to consider..." (with the way you talk, I highly doubt it)

Switch a few nouns and you are a segregationist.

I am willing to consider, but no (de-segregationist) supporter has yet presented a reasonable case based on correct principles that explain why (Black people) qualify for the (White) institution of (America).

  • VOTE NO on PROP 8

Vote NO sobre la Proposición 8

    投反对票的命题八

    8つの命題はないに投票

    8 없다에 투표 제안

    प्रस्ताव आठ नहीं पर वोट

Despite what prop 8 supporters say prop 8 actually does take away rights. Rights including long-term care insurance, state veteran benefits, tax exemption of inheritance, pension plan survivor benefits and marriage.

  • Thank you for translating such a beautiful message into so many diverse languages, and thank you for helping debunk the falsities being spread by the proponents' campaign! :o)

  • Look at the facts-children are being taught (as a result of the ruling in May) that homosexual marriage is the same as heterosexual marriage-when it's not the same.

    Vote YES on 8.

Go ahead, delete this comment-sometimes the truth hurts.

Don't think that I hate you though. For some reason, those fighting for "equality" seem to hate me for supporting Prop. 8. It's just going to get worse if it doesn't pass. They/you want rights, but only for everyone who agrees with you.

  • Obviously you didn't watch my whole video if you think I'm going to delete your comment; everyone is entitled to an opinion. Those of us fighting for equality don't hate you for having the opinion you do; we just don't believe that "separate but equal" is equal and we feel that Prop 8 makes a sect of individuals into second-class citizens, a la the civil rights and women's suffrage movements. Because that affects a lot of our lives directly, it's hard to just sit and take it.

  • Actually, sexuality being a choice is an utter MYTH. I have been aware of whom I am attracted to since I was 3 years old and so has everyone I know, regardless of sexuality. Did you choose to be straight? More importantly, what on God's green Earth do you think would make someone *choose* to be a hated and discriminated against sexual orientation?

Finally, sexual orientation has nothing to do with "giving in to homosexual attractions." There are plenty of married folk who *never* have sex!

  • yes... I have always loved that "choice" argument... but... when you ask if they have chosen to be straight... they never answer... hmmm...

  • gemini0577 wrote: "yes... I have always loved that "choice" argument... but... when you ask if they have chosen to be straight... they never answer... hmmm..."

Well let's see, here. Should I chose to be straight or should I chose to be crooked? Oh! I chose to be straight.

    TADA!

Does it really take a life-changing moment to make that choice. I bet you had no way to make that choice until you knew there "was" one. Otherwise you'd be subjecting yourself to those of the opposite sex.

  • I'm curious why you don't feel that marriage is marriage is marriage -- religious beliefs aside.

In California, it is completely legal to become an integral part of your child's academic life -- and to remove them from any courses, lessons, or field trips. All parents have to do is stay on top of their child's academics and keep in regular touch with their teachers if they're *so* worried about these repercussions, but they'd rather take rights away from everybody else? It's disconcerting.

  • ... There is nothing in that proposition which would teachers have to teach children about queer marraige in school. So... this argument really has no basis. If you can contradict this using facts I would be more than willing to listen.

p.s. Why did you put quotation marks around equality?

p.p.s. Of course some individuals are not gonna like you because you are supporting a prop that will take away our right to marry. People tend to get a tad upset when you try to take away their rights...

  • I think you're confusing California's education code with that of Massachusetts. In California, students are by default not allowed to attend classes about personal and sexual health or family without a parental waiver. Remember getting those waivers signed as a kid?

And California also has a strictly enforced opt-out policy, which allows parents to take their child out of *any* classes they feel uncomfortable with. Stay on top of your child's academics; it's that simple.

  • It's your right to have the opinion that they are different, but I respectfully disagree.

I have studied the history of sociology as well as theology and have come to the personal conclusion that the only reason gender is even ever mentioned in the requirements for getting a marriage license (i.e., "getting married) is because of systematically injected fear and hatred by the ruling *minority*.

It's the same reason we used to have Black slaves and didn't let women vote.

  • Actually, if Prop 8 passes *it* will silence the opposition (us). If it doesn't pass, no one will be silenced. Under California law, neither religious marriage sites and adoption agencies nor public schools will be required to change *anything*. So Prop 8 doesn't "protect" anything but long-standing discrimination against the unknown.

We're not trying to silence anybody. We're fighting for our rights. We believe equality *is* what's best for society.

  • Hey Hun, wish i could vote. You're looking hotter by the hour btw ;) love ya

  • love it!!!
