  • I'm talking about Martin Freeman's and Benedict Cumberbatch's roles in Sherlock, not about Smith/Cumberbatch question

  • I love him, so sweet and manly at the same time! And the other, so elegant, smart, asshole! I love them both!

  • I think it's funny how he'll remember 'round and round the garden, like a teddy bear' but not the solar system.

  • I was watching Hatsune Miku... It's like that time when I was watching people walk invisible dogs and then ended up watching QI. Not that I'm complaining of course. Sherlock and QI are some of the best things on the BBC, nay, TV in general, it's just... I can't think of two things more unrelated than Sherlock and Japan's No. 1 digital diva. XD

  • round and round the garden like a teddy bear!

Benedict Cumberbatch is better than Jeremy Brett :D

  • Sherlock is actually partially right. The solar system doesn't really matter. Unless you're the Doctor or an astrophysicist, in which case it's rather important.

I rather not know about the solar system, except I have to because I'm a physics student. I also would rather appreciate being able to delete all the useless information I don't need.

    *Sigh*

    God damn geniuses.

  • i like the voice of benedict, because normally in germany you only hear the synchronously speaker (sorry, google translator, ( i don't know if it's the right word ;o) )

  • This version of Sherlock is super awesome. Stephen Moffat has done an incredible job modernizing it without it becoming like a horrible spoof. Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman have the best bromance chemistry I have EVER SEEN on TV. Really hope they don't destroy the dynamic by having them get married. I'm not a big fan of the 11 Doctor. 10 will always be mine. I'm not about to shout abuses about Matt Smith. I've seen Matt in other projects and he's fine. He is just not The Doctor to me.

  • they are really good actors!

  • Comment removed

  • @LlansleyNinja141 well ur just all kinds of rude arent u ? there are much better wasy to say ur dislike for something...

  • Totally agree with Martin!

  • Yes it's true, Matt Smith initially auditioned for Watson, but got turned down because Moffat believed he suited the role of Sherlock more but he couldn't give him the role of Holmes because it was already given to Cumberbatch.

  • damn!!! the bbc channel is not available in my country!!!!

  • @deductivedetective you can watch it on netflix, in case that helps =)

  • @UchihaMoonSerenity

i don't mean that this show is rubbish, believe me, i love it!! it's just that i doubt mr holmes would consider british tv shows (or any pop culture) to be "stuff that matters".

  • what's somewhat ironic is that THIS is the kind of rubbish that ordinary people fill their heads with

  • @banananer16 What exactly makes this rubbish? Do elaborate.

  • I wonder if Sherlock uses Chacha.....

  • I SO wish it´ll come to german tv ;_; i wanna watch it!!!

  • We need more tv like this in the states something with intellect

  • i can't wait for Series 2 coming later this year. it will be great.

  • How can he be so cute!!!

  • Does anyone know what channel in the USA this would show on? Is it just BBC or is it another channel?

  • @FlirtingStalker As far as I know, it's airing on BBC America in September.

  • he says he only fills his head with important and useful things..."round and round the garden like a teddy bear!" WTF? How can he know this and not the solar system? lol

  • John- You know arch enemies doesn't exist in real life. Sherlock- Doesn't it? seams a bit dull,. What do real people have then in their real lifes? John - Well, friends, people they like, people they don´t like, girlfriends, boyfriends... Sherlock- How dull. John- You don´t have a girlfriend then? Sherlock- No, It's not really my area. John- Alright... so..you have a boyfriend.. which is ehm..fine btw Sherlock - I know it's fine! John- So you got a boyfriend? Sherlock- No John- Alright then..
  • John:"but it's the solar system!!!"

Sherlock:"so what we go around the sun and we go around the moon or we run around the garden like a teddy bear it won't matter!"

    Doctor pops out from nowhere.

    Doctor:"no actually it does matter."

    Lol that would be hilarious:)

  • Benedict Cumberbatch us not A Sherlock Holmes,,,in my humble opinion he is THE Sherlock Holmes. I can't think of anyone that could do it better.

  • @wolvesruleohyay Jeremy Brett is the best Sherlock Holmes ever. Anyway I like this modern Sherlock Holmes.

  • @natureisthelife Me too, It's a bit of a revisionist retelling of the original Holmes Canon, but I don't have a problem with Sherlock Holmes revisionism as long as it doesn't throw the baby out with the bathwater so to speak ala the Guy Ritchie film, For me Benedict Cumberbatch, Martin Freeman, and Stephen Moffat are doing an incredible job on Sherlock and it's my favorite dramatization of the Conan Doyle stories since the Jeremy Brett series.

  • @wolvesruleohyay Matt Smith?

  • @Gamer7410 (This is wolvesruleohyay with a new and better username) Smith might do a good job, but he doesn't have the voice, and Benedict Cumberbatch just captured Holmes so perfectly that I can't imagine anyone else playing a modern Sherlock (although Jeremy Brett has cornered the market on the classic Holmes.)

  • @Gamer7410 Smith is much too... energetic and... seemingly optimistic. Cumberbatch is the perfect combination of serious, smart, elegant, and quirky. His voice is also perfect. Of course, this is my opinion.

  • Just so you know...there are another three episodes in production and should be out this fall....Word from the BBC. =)

  • "...but it's the solar system!" i NEED to watch this.

  • I feel sorry for those magazines at 1:04 LOL

  • I Think this could be the next CSI !!!!

  • @Gioa96

    Uuuuuuuuh, it's BETTER...

  • Oh goodness. I love Sherlock's little hissy-fit at 1:06

  • BC should have been Dr Who

  • I had the dvd's as soon as they came out..brillient. Imo best holmes scince j.b. Can't wait for season 2...they can take as long as they need as long as they keep gettin it right ya

  • 0:30 - 1:08 is completely EPIC! Makes me smile every time I watch it.

  • The folks at CSI should really pull out their pads and take notes. This is a crime show at its best.

  • Steven Moffat and /Sue Verute how could u be so cruel? aargh, just 3 eps, why? can't wait!! pls hurry

  • So you all calm down, there is a confirmed second season, however they have to figure the filming dates and everything because Doctor Who's going on at the same time, therefore the creators are going to be very busy..........But I totally agree.............this show is da bomb!=)AMAZING!

  • Are there seriously only three episodes?! :O No way! I need more!!! :O AAAH! You ought to make more, BBC. This series is amazing. :D

  • I disagree sherlock IS a god ^^

  • Sky plus this and re watching this again...great mini series

  • " 'Round and 'round the garden, like a teddy bear!" I don't know what it is, but something about the way he says that makes me crack up every time.

  • SHERLOCK AND WATSON SHOULD BE TOGETHER! <3

  • Are they going to be bringing back Sherlock for a second series?

I hope they do, this show is quite enticing really.

  • i find it funny how he only keeps stuff of importance in his mind and then he rembers a children's nursery rhyme :)

  • @ilovefluffysheep

i'm sure it was useful at some point. serial killers would totally use nursery rhymes in their crimes, just to creep people out.

(i have way too much faith in the writers :P )

  • I love that they include all my favorite parts from the book. And they played it very very well. Not like that stupid movie.

  • I gotta say, this Yank has ALWAYS been jealous of you Brits and your awesome shows like "Sherlock." Thank God for PBS and Netflix!

  • @RoxanneJ81 wait... last time i checked they did not have it on netflix?! i have watched the unaired episode and i am addicted

  • Martin Freeman MUST play Bilbo in 'The Hobbit'

  • Who needs overrated American criminal shows? (CSI getting Bieber, of all people.. Pathetic)..

I haven't seen such a good show in a long, long time. Kept me entertained for two hours in the edge of my seat.. the whole time.

But I have to admit , Benedict's witty charm played a role in it. If you know what I mean. ;p

  • oh I would love to see this show but I can't find it anywhere not on tv either. what should I do!? I realliy want to.

  • at 1:06 i like it when he throws a fit and crouch's up on the sofa, he looks soo sweet then

  • i love how they really use the lines and scenes from the books. its quite true character wise (though Holmes is more flamboyant here). Love the series

  • If I could, I would personally pay for another series of this to be made. Effing brilliant, justification of the licence fee alone.

  • now that bloke who plays sherlock would have been perfect as the 11th doctor. the clothes he wears as the sherlock character is a perfect costume for the eleventh doctor role.

  • I didnt think the two recent DrWho's could be surpassed.

    Elementary, i was wrong.

Please, please, please, please make this a permanent show.

This show alone is worth the licence fee.

    UTTERLY FANTASTIC!!!!!!!!

  • Love this show..hope they bring it back as a permenant fixture:)

  • when does it come back?? it was an immeanse show :)

  • Is it me, or does Bennedict remind you of Matt Smith?

  • @ianamilett Yeah, he does in Sherlock. If you watch him in Atonement, Small Island and Hawking <3, you'll realise that he is an incredibly versatile character.

  • I just read that Matt Smith auditioned for the role of Watson before he auditioned for Dr Who, glad he didn't get it that would never have worked.

  • @spress97 I thought it was Bennedict that auditioned for doctor who and didnt get it....

  • @guns511 That is true as well, Benedict auditioned for the new Doctor and Matt Smith for Dr. John Watson!

  • @RyuzakIchigo Really? As I understand it, Benedict never actually got as far as that. He considered it, and even talked to David Tennant about it, but then decided not to go for it.

  • @spress97 i agree - matt smith and benedict are two much alike for it to have worked

  • @spress97 yeah ... Matt Smith auditioned for Sherlock, but didn't get the part cos he was a little too weird, but that suits the Doctor well. What's really funny is that Benedict Cumbabatch considered the role of the Doctor after Tennant left (he's a personal friend of Stephen Moffat, the writer of both series) but decided not to take it ..... personally I think Cumbabatch would make an EXCELLENT Doctor, if he took over the role after Matt Smith

  • @spress97 Yeah, Matt probably would've been better suited AS Sherlock Holmes. He has the weirdness of him.

  • @spress97

He did, Matt smaith didn't get the role because Steven Moffat thought he was more of a a Sherlock holmes than a Dr Watson

  • @spress97 they look similar

  • @spress97 Apparently he was actually considered for Sherlock Holmes. That would have worked. But not Watson, no. Too similar to Benedict!

  • @spress97 Yeah, I know! Apparently Moffat turned him down because he was too much like Sherlock :) I love that.... Martin is kind of better as Watson.

  • @spress97

It wouldn't have. Also, I don't think I could stand Matt Smith and Benedict Cumberbatch in the same scene.

I'd just start hyperventilating from so much fangirling.

  • @spress97 wow. Matt Smith and Benedict Cumberbatch. I absolutely love the both of them but, together? That would have been awfully redundant.

  • they have to do hounds next time

  • Ending will be similar to the Sherlock Holmes book where he supposedly died fighting Moriarty down a waterfall (think it was called The Final Problem, not sure though). Turns out he'd survived but gone into hiding from Moriarty's men.

  • @CaptainAndyman It was called the Final Problem. I believe Conan Doyle only revived the Holmes character because he was so popular. If you haven't seen the Granada episodes produced by Granada, with the late, great Jeremy Brett as Holmes, you must. They came out in the 80s--worth viewing.

This update looks good, though. Great idea putting Holmes and Watson into the modern age!

  • WOW-one word to describe this show,so many actual words that can be used.amazing, brilliant, epic etc. Benedict Cumberbatch is my new crush haha Can't believe the way it ended-I actually yelled "Shoot hiiim" followed by "new seriiies now!" I can't wait for a whole year-screw writing Doctor Who, the game is on for Sherlock! :)

  • @blod1tatws He was aiming for the bomb and I think he will shoot, he is that sort of character. He will end up in the water and Watson will get into cover, you are right though it is a class program. Well done BBC, for once

  • @spress97 i agree with you about the ending, there is no other way really because Sherlock can jump into the water but John can't because he's too far away from the pool so he would have to run for cover or something. @blod1tatws, do you mean that you want Sherlock to point his gun at Moriary and shoot him?

  • @RainDropsSleeping another way the ending could be is that since Moriarty has control over the bomb and the snipers, he could turn the bomb off (like he did with the four other people he wired up) before Sherlock shoots :) thats just an idea though lol

  • @RainDropsSleeping yeah but it would ruin the whole point of it i think. Moriarty in the books i think dies but the show needs this kind of lunatic(hehe) to make it thrilling.but this show is BRILLIANT with or without Moriarty!!!!

  • @blod1tatws I ment by that that he would shoot near Moriarty, not directly at him cos he is too much of an iconic character to go out this early. Mainly as to distract him so Sherlock would have a few more seconds to jump into the pool and for John to get futher out the way.

  • @RainDropsSleeping wow i didnt even remember commenting on this! i feel so different now. this was before i read the books, which i have read now-ALL OF THEM! I like bad guys, unless they're being annoying. Something tells me the bomb is fake...who knows! the cast did a read through today of the next series. only they know :)

  • @spress97 yeah i know he was aiming for the bomb, but that would mean killing Watson and Sherlock himself.Moriarty was just plain creepy-but funny in my opinion. Sherlock just kept pointing the gun at Moriarty even when Moriarty was explaining that he would kill Sherlock one day.but letting it finish with a major cliffhanger was brilliant-can't believe have to wait a year to actually see what happens!!

  • Who's going to play Marty?

  • Bring on a 2nd series!

  • Sensational series, sensational writing, sensational casting.

    Hm how to put it....sensational?

  • The guy who plays Sherlock is a babe :)

  • amazing 1st series,

it helps that Benedict cumberbatch is appealing to look at AND listen to!

that deep voice has the ability to penetrate hearts!!!

  • @lisalilsmartass i agree with you on that!!

his voice is so hypnotic i just want to hear it over & over again.

  • i cant believe the way the series finished, i want the next one now

  • @dullahgg so it did not end for good?! Damn !? my sister is daft! she said it was over and is was peed off. the show is simply extraordinary

  • @animagigirl yea it will continue, as you can imagine writing it will be very difficult!

  • Well said

  • I loved this series!!!! Do more!
