I think in the studio they calm her down, that's why the studio version always sounds better, but once she starts to sing live she's just all over the place. A lot of mumbling. sorry sorry but yea she has a great voice, one i didnt think she had personaly and now im proven wrong but the long notes etc.... are not continuous, not in the slightest, hence not being one note, maybe one note for 11 sec and the rest then the rest of the note for the 6 sec. but not one whole long note, not that im jibing, cause i have learned that she is a good vocalist shame that she didnt do more with that great voice. xx

Cyndi lauper was amazing she belted stronger because she went down to hit the note versus JS went up. CL hit an F5 in mixed chest which made it sound higher. JS is a Lyric -Sopranoe and CL is a Mezzo- Soprano like Beyonce. CL cant belt higher than JS itz not hating iz just the pure facts. But both of them were awesome!

She can hit those notes because her voice is naturally placed very high. But she does NOT have a good technique, and it actually works against her range. If she relaxed her throat, supported her notes better, and learned a healthier placement, she would be able to go even higher than she does, with even more power, and more ease.

i meant to say that notes that she hits are logically part of her natural range, because she can hit them everytime and with ease...but on the other hand, she tends to push and i think that she doesn't have great massiveness and huge power in her voice and therefore sometimes sounds strained, after all she is a LYRIC soprano, and yes i know that the term lyric is used for opera, but in this case i'm using it do describe her voice as generally light, sweet and and hence not particularly robust...

nah, there are plenty of lyric soprano belters. Jessica's sound is a result of throat/glottal constriction that she gets from singing outside of the vocal mask and not supporting her notes properly. That's why the tonal output is often very labored and constricted, because she is essentially "swallowing" her notes instead of letting them ride freely. If she learned how to relax her larynx and give more diaphragmic support, it would be much easier for her, and she could belt even higher.
