  • If anyone is looking for these... they are currently on EBAY!

    ITEM NUMBER 200579636739

  • anyone know where to find bulbs for cheap - emulator?

  • Here's an idea...You can strip the lamp and dicros and install 12mw green yag fairly cheaply. It already has the power taps and a good fan... I can see the wheels starting to turn in your mind. New life for a great old fixture!

  • I still run (2) Emulator's and (8) Trackspots every weekend. These things are tanks and never seem to die. I could do without the $300.00 bulb cost for the Emulators, but enjoy the $12.00 cost for the Trackspots, so it evens out.

  • wasnr comparing a roboscan to an emulator.. An Emulator was an amazing light and still is. I was comparing to a trackspot which was never amazing.. And yes a roboscan falling ten feet and not breaking is very impressive.. Not one of my better rigging moments but you live and learn. Was probably more like 12 years ago and I had the c-clamp mounted incorrectly...OOPS!

  • @jimbo32712 were was your safty cable?????? thats ok, I've seen people try to hang cyber lights and drop them in the process of.. That was just stupidity on their part.. Robo Scan.. wow haven't heard that name since 1996. Good fixture, I would buy more if they were made again.

  • The roboscan 812 had all the capabilities in a smaller package. It is built like a tank. I still have the original 4 I bought back in 1996. They all still work properly and only one of them has ever been in for repairs. And these things have been worked. Theyve been kept in a hot garage. Put up and take down and shoved into cars..Loaded unloaded..No road cases.. One of them even fell off a rig and hit the floor about 10 years ago. And it still worked..The bulb didnt even blow.

  • the robo scans were not close to the emulators. the emulators scanned at incredible speeds enough to show a single letter and the arc lamp was the brightest at it's time.

  • "One of them even fell off a rig and hit the floor about 10 years ago. And it still worked' ....... Thats not something to be proud of ....

  • I WANT TO BUY ONE!

  • but someone mentioned the trackspot...That light was nothng special..Did nothing speacial..bad light source..bad colors..not to fast with the movements.. In my opinion the martin roboscan 812 was superior in every way at half the price!

  • jimbo32712 - please tell me you are kidding. You are comparing a Martin 812 to a Trackspot? Trackspots set new standards on reliability and speed. They had the fastest mirrors of any moving mirror fixture. The design went virtually unchanged for 15 years because of the rock solid design & build, rich colors, fast movement and huge output from a 250W halogen bulb. A Trackspot in good shape still goes for $700 and they were only $1100 new. Low end Martin gear was junk in the 90s. Get a clue.

  • You better keep lots of spares. Its always fun when they blow right in the middle of a show. Never once did I have a bulb issue with a roboscan. As for the selling price. Well I can attribute that to nothing more than people being dopey.

  • Also if you are lucky enough to find one used they still fetch a pretty penny!

  • I had seen these in use as recently as 2 years ago. An amazing light back then..Way ahead of its time and far ahead of anything else around. Not without drawbacks however..The cost of ownership was high.. And light output was low compared to lets say the HES intellibeam. But still nothing around could do what this light could do.And to this day still very few can. They should come up with a new version..Imagine what they could come up with today.

  • You sound lke a high end honk.. I speak from experience..I used both fixtures back when they were new. I was not impressed by the trackspot at all. Richness of colors? Youve got to be kidding..I always found the optics on Martin fixtures to be far superior. As for the bulb well I would take the 150w arcstream over a cheapy 250w halogen anyday. At least you knew when you arrived at a show that the arcstream bulb was going to fire unlike a halogen that would blow at the drop of a hat.

  • BRING THEM BACK!!! these were really nice lights

  • These are an amazing light in person! Have not seen them in a while, at a club. But, a killer one to see.

  • This light along with the trackspot should NEVER have been discontinued.

  • damn right! i <3 emulator.

  • tru dat!

  • @raveinabedroom It was discontinued because of the lamp it used, extreme weight it had and the cost to produce and sell. I truly think this is one of the BEST lighting fixtures EVER made. Since Highend created them No other company has ever tried to duplicate it, Except a company in Florida called Techni Lux. But the unit was Never unveiled. If I remember correctly, I think this unit was something like over 1000.00 per unit. Great unit never the less I wish I had 5 of them..

  • @Lavidicus6

IS the emulator worth buying used? I'm thinking probably not just due to the weight of one fixture (50 pounds!!!) I recently "picked" 6 trackspots and an Intellabeam 700HX LCD controler for them. I love these to death. The trackspot is just so above and beyond any simmilar moving mirror light that Martin ever built.
