They didn't, It was Konami who took MGO1 offline, i presume its to prepare for Server for MGO2.

this game might have been pretty good when it came out on the ps2, but when you say it's better than mgo on ps3, that's just nonsense. i've been playing both. you can't do half the shit on ps2 compared to ps3. If you say mgo1 is better then you are a fanboy. Come on, the graphics are way better, more moves, guns, quick switch is better than cycling through the item boxes, customization of the characters, the list goes on. i like mgo1 but be more realistic guys!

@RATION666 Actually on the forums some guy said he was actually able to connect and create a match with only himself in it. That must mean some parts of the server remain. So there is still hope :)

@RATION666 There is no way to get mgo on ps2 back up. There is a tiny chance that they could port it straight to ps3. Until then your better off playing portable ops, mgo 2's skill system is god awful >.<

i prefere mgs3 online than mgs4 online for one thing, theres no some guys with ls or mao or cheats and the gameplay looks better lol i never played mgs3 online but i think ots a littler bit better the online

Why can't people drop weapons in mgo2 once they're killed? No, WHY ISN'T THERE ANY ####ING FOOD IN MGO2?! Once I'm low in hp at mgo2, should I stay like this for the whole game until I die? Mgo1 is definately 100% better than mgo2.

AA was the only 3rd person way to fight. You had to play as a FPS to get any headshots back then, the characters were different, and it's set in the 1940's I believe, so the weapons and tactics are different from the fourth one.

to everyone saying that this is bad. you have either not played it or was crap at it. this game was so god damn awesome, the amount of hours you could spend playing was classic. the fact that you could actually use stealth in an online just added to the fun. i really dont think mgo2 does it justice, such a shame the servers closed or i would still play it. the only reason i watched this vid is because i miss playing it, thats how good it was.

It's not bad. It's better. It's the original, which paved the way to what you've been spoiled with today. Also, it had some things I'd like to see put back in, such as shooting radios to stop people from getting assisstance, and a band around your arm, because people still accidentally TK in MGO2, just because nametags are off. And, I would have killed to have a chance to play this.

It'd be nice if the "Scene" expansion was just MGO1 including some MGO2 maps 40 years earlier. The game could be accessed after choosing your character, and have MGO1 specific clothing rather than just having some basic soldier, which is wearable during your MGO2 play. Other than that, the game can stay how it is. Adding skills would be nice though.

i like how they have re-done some of the older maps and put them in the new mgo, it feels like your going back to the battle field, kinda like when snake goes back to shadow moses in mgs4.
