@gluino the main weakness in Induction Lamps is the circuitry that drives the lamp.....the lamp itself being electrodeless can potentially live a very long time.....the circuitry driving it seems very sensitive to spikes and temperature.
That seems just like the streetlights they have on Regent Street, London. They've been retrofitted into old lampposts. Colourwise, they seem like CFL's, but the bulbs are too bright and big and have to last a long time. I'm sure it's this.

so how does it work? im not dumb i know what induction is, but how does it produce light from an electromagnetic feild

@lokeycmos electromagnetic field + conductive material hooked up to a lamp = light

is it like tesla coil but with a fluorescent bulb?

I had two Philips QL85 (looks like the set shown in the video) break for no reason after only about 20,000 hours

@gluino
break for no reason after ONLY 20,000 hours damn... it's still good...
incandescent bulb: 1000 hours!!
halogen bulbs: 2000 hours
compact fluorescent: 6000 - 10,000 hours
fluorescent tubes : 16,000 hours with the condition to let them on minimum 3 hours a day, do not respect that and you will get maximum 8000 hours
sodium/ metal halide: 20,000 hours and do i have to mention the impediments like the heat, colour and flikering?

@gluino you need a better ballast, not electronic ballast. it's the electronic ballast that always screws up.
