Again, the point is that this fusion is, for good or bad, an integral part of who the Persians, Arabs, Turks...etc are, as much as Christianity is for the European nations.
You may lament the fact that the Persians with their great civilazation had the misfortune to be living among "barbarians," but then again, what was more calamitous, the Arab or the Mongol invasion?
What is happenning to day in Iran is not the result of Islam. Rather it is the result medievally-structured society and state.
I do not see the Europeans cussing the Roman Cathlic Church and the Hebrews for imposing Christianity on them by sword.
If we were to go by your logic, The British would purge every latin words from their language and revert to paganism. The Italians would purge every Greek word from their language, and the Russians would dump Orthodoxy and worship the Viking Gods.
This is a very silly logic.
The sad thing is that some of you is still stuck in this logic because your Present is bad.
ahussami, if you had tasted logics at all you would realize that adding another (alien) grammatical and vocabular layer unto a language not only isn't a benefit but an additional layer of complexity. How foolish to think otherwise!
The country of concern has a 3000+ year "infidel" scripture (gathas) free of pedophilia, murder, rules, holy wars etcetera etcetera etcetera. You suggest to continue with current misery ?
Your analogy with foreign countries is as poor as it is irrational. In other words we should also steal because some ("successfully") do so ?!
Wrong analogy. By the way, I am in no way denying the greatness of the pre-Islamic Persian culture, or the way Islam was spread. All I am saying is that the fusion between Islam and the Persian civilization allowed for the greatest achievments in Medieval times in science, medicine and literature, all of which contributed to mainly by Persians. Arabs never say that the Islamic civilization was an Arabic achievement, even though it was the main medium of interaction in the Middle Ages.
If you had a deeper knowledge about the history of islam you would not write islam allowed Iranic culture(s) to achieve major accomplishments in science, because the first thing islam did was to *destroy* the scientific accomplishments (Gundishapur/Jondishapur between Shushtar and Dezful in Iran) and also Alexandria (Egypt), where centuries of scientific (math, medicine, astronomy, chemistry etc) achievemnets went up into smoke.
And well, I'm not really following here, what does a lingua franca of that time (arabic) have to do with scientific accomplishments, and what does that have to do with islam, paganism, atheism, agnosticism and what not.
After all the sumerians would have been pagans from the perspective of muslims, christians, and jews. Had the sumersians survived long enough they would face the same fate, stalked, presecuted and forced into these new religions. Are you then telling me the sumerians would benefit from islam ?
If you're implying we should be thankful for what islam made possible then i will tell you are wrong, for the very reason i wrote above.
You know, it is actually pleasant to hear this pretty Persian lady speaking real Persian. I don't think I heard any Arabic words or sounds... How pleasant to hear pretty woman with her pretty voice speak such a pretty language so prettily.
What A Cutie! I don't speak Persian, just learned the first grade, and I pick up a word here and there. Regardless, I agree with everything she says.... :P

We need to listen to this video clip every single day. Wow, Wow. Thanks Dr. Engheta. Thanks Elham Sataki for your hard work and posting these informative video. God Bless IRAN.
Elham is an undeclared Iranian beauty queen, in addition she has a brain to go with the beauty and is a patriot who is proud to be an Iranian which makes me proud to be a part of that culture too.
I enjoyed watching your video, but towards the end (minute 18:56) you made a statement that totally contradicted the main thesis of your speech. Your assertion in the video is that Iranians are cultured and not racist and that the African "slaves" were treated with respect and dignity in Iran and so on. However you go on to say that Pirooz, "the Iranian hero", should never be compared to, or more accurately, "placed at the level of a black slave". That statement is racist by all standards.
I apologize for the delay. I had to contact Dr. Engheta. His respond to your comment was: If I said " I am not YOU, that does not make ME a better person than YOU are or that does not mean YOU are better than I am!!." Bottom line they were not the same.
Dear Avista, it is obvious to any free-thinking human being that when Dr Engheta says "an Iranian hero" should never be "placed at the level of a black slave", he is basically implying that black slaves are inferior and undeserving of comparison to Iranians -- in other words he is being racist. What is ironic is that he made such a questionable remark right after building a lengthy case to its contrary. Personally I do not know Dr Engheta, but I find a gross air of hypocrisy in this work of his.
Then you might want to get to know Dr. Engheta and start reading his books & follow his programs so you might have more accurate opinion about him!!! To start with for your Info, He has written 16 books about history of Iran after Islam & Farsi (Dar Jar_faa_y e Vaa_j_haa) & haft_seen &...But I can't teach everything on line unless You start reading for yourself!!! If you need the name of the books please let me know.
99.999% of this video is explicitly against slavery and racism. You picked on 0.001% that is subject to interpretation and you interpreted subjectively based on your inclinations. You summed-up this video in your comment. How can one sum-up your comment? Are u just picky or ?
Why don't you put yourself in the shoes of a respectable African individual and then pass judgment on this video? The entire tone and content of this video is patronizing to Africans. I can assure you that every African intellectual would find this video belittling and humiliating to his people. Would you have liked it if, let's say, Russians spoke with such arrogance and condescension about Iranians? Come on my friend, open your eyes. You are creating enemies for Iran without even knowing it.
Goodfellow62, I beg to differ, I don't find this patronizing. What I hear is that in the ancient times slavery was forbidden in Zoroastrian. You mentioned "a respectable African", why would you have to be specific and qualify Africans? ;-) This nitpicking goes back to the comment u left 6 months ago. Africans are our ancestors. There's a theory supported by genetics that all races came from South Africa. It seems that all races will eventually mix into one Human race in North America.
Dariush Aziz: I said respectable and intellectual Africans, because not all Africans belong to those categories. I am not talking about idiot Africans who can't think for themselves. As for the existence of slavery in pre-Islamic Iran, I am not sure; but the society was certainly stratified then, and not all had equal rights. For instance right to education was only reserved for Royalty and aristocracy.
