This man seems to be really nice, patient, easy going, I mean he deserves better than that and when they split up, it was for the best for both of them, especially for Dabnis.

As far as they know he's a man nearly twice her age who allowed her to keep secrets from them. They did the same thing with Martin. The first thing they learned about him was that he was divorced and had a daughter. If Vanessa had come to them 6 months ago and said "This is Dabnis, a mature and responsible guy" they would have been much more trustworthy.

The way Vanessa's grandparents treat Dabnis is completely rude, and unacceptable. But Dabnis is incredibly nice about it, just like when he first met Clair and Cliff. It was "smart" I guess because he wanted to be on their good side, but really Dabnis would have been completely justified if he ha gotten very angry.
If I were Clair and Cliff, I would have politely told their parents that Vanessa was my child, and to stay out of it. When they were ready to inform ANYONE in the family, they would have done it when they were damn good and well ready to. They had no right to grill him like that. Clair and Cliff are Vanessa's parents, and their parents are the grandparents. Stay in a grandparent place. I'm sorry, but that's how I feel and that's they way it should be. There are some things you stay out of.
