  • Gee, it's too bad this plane came out a little after the Lockheed L-188 Electra. The Vanguard probably would have sold much better had it not been for the Electra's competition. I understand the Vanguard was an all around pretty good airliner.

  • @hudson501 Commerce competition , indeed. We, brazilians knew well Lockheed Electra II, while at Rio-São Paulo shuttle service ( retired 1992, for Boeings 737 and Airbuses ) . But, man, Vanguard still invites-me. Amazing passengers airplane.

  • Is there a video that shows the sounds of both the Tyne and Dart? The Tyne's sounds are kinda muffled here.

  • Allways will be my favourite plane. I remember them flying over my house in the 60's in Ealing West Londontaking off on full chat when there was an easterly wind blowing with the Tynes humming away with a really comforting "homely" sound. Something of a contrast to watching them land whaen a westerly was blowing.. they seemed to whine a lot more on landing

  • She was my introduction to air travel - a true British beauty of elegant appearance with sound to match. My favourite aircraft. Thank you for posting this clip.

  • Lovely Big Windows. See the one at Brookllands..

  • Shame that the Vanguard wasn't a commercial success. As Andrew says, brilliant timing - or not - but I think that was more down to BEA rather than Vickers.

  • "Tremendous impact" with brilliant timing.

  • very rare colour film of one of my favorite aircraft

    thank you
